Buenos días! Lunes soleado y festivo con post recién salido del horno, alguien da más?  🙂

Hacía tiempo que no hablábamos de Italia y no sé vosotros, pero yo la echaba un poco de menos por aquí! Esta vez visitamos una ciudad que destaca por por un despliegue de arte y belleza fuera de lo común, en la todo amante de la buena vida y de las cosas bonitas cae rendido y flasheado a los pocos minutos de poner el pie en sus calles. Florencia es íntima, manejable y acogedora (puede visitarse perfectamente en 2-3 días), y no por ello pierde importancia, ya que sigue siendo la capital italiana del Renacimiento y es popularmente conocida como “La ciudad del arte“. Pero lo que más me gusta de ella es la passegiatta o caminata al atardecer, sentir el ambiente los fiorentinos con sus conciertos callejeros y artistas que muestran sus obras en las aceras, y perderme en sus trattorías… una ciudad con un poco de todo y para todos, un destino más que interesante para descubrir, especialmente ahora que la luz permite alargar más los días. Y si todo esto os parece poco, es también un centro de operaciones perfecto para realizar un tour por la Toscana, no se le puede pedir más 🙂

1o motivos para enamorarse de Florencia esta primavera

1. Los imprescindibles

No quisiera extenderme demasiado en los principales atractivos turísticos de la ciudad – que son infinitos -, porque creo que podréis encontrarlos fácilmente en cualquier guía de viajes. Quiero detenerme un poco más en otra Florencia algo más alternativa, con otro sabor muy especial… pero sé que muchos de vosotros echáis mano de estos posts para planificar vuestros viajes, así que os comento lo que desde mi punto de vista serían los principales hot spots a cubrir en el viaje:

• El Duomo y la cúpula Brunelleschi: la catedral de Florencia tiene una fachada neogótica espectacular y si subís a lo alto de su cúpula tendréis una vistas panorámicas perfectas de la ciudad. No me parece que por dentro sea tan bonita como por fuera, si no os da tiempo a entrar no es fundamental.
• Las puertas del Paraíso, justo enfrente de la fachada del Duomo, son las puertas del Battisterio de San Juan y son una réplica de la obra de bronce del Siglo XV de Ghiberti que muestran 10 escenas del Antiguo Testamento en bronce dorado. 
• La Plaza della Signoria con el Palacio Vecchio: la plaza central de Florencia está siempre plagada de turistas admirando sus estatuas: las réplicas de El Marzocco y la Giuditta e Oloferne de Donatello,  el David de Miguel Ángel, Perseo de Cellini, Hércules y Caco de Bandinelli, las dos Termini, la Fuente de Neptuno y la estatua ecuestre de Cosme I. El Palacio, sede actual del Ayuntamiento, cuenta como principal reclamo con el Gran Salón del Cinquecento con 39 paneles que decoran el techo ilustrando los episodios más destacados del Gran Duque de Toscana.
• La Iglesia de Santa María Novella, con la la Trinidad de Massaccio del año 1425.
• El Ponte Vecchio, uno de los principales iconos de la ciudad, que cruza el río Arno y te traslada inmediatamente a la época medieval. Entre sus rincones está el “Corridoio Vasariano” un pasadizo secreto creado por los Medici para conectar el Palazzo Pitti con el Palazzo Vecchio sin mezclarse con el pueblo. Si queréis conocerlo tendréis que reservar con tiempo, ya que se hacen muy pocas visitas.
• La Galleria della Accademia y el David de Miguel Ángel: no os podéis ir de Florencia sin admirar en vivo sus proporciones y dimensiones, aunque tendréis que ir preparados para esperar largas colas o bien haceros con la entrada online pagando un sobrecoge.
• La Galleria Uffizi, la famosa pinacoteca italiana en la que podréis facilmente pasar varias horas contemplando obras como El Nacimiento de Venus o La Primavera de Botticelli, La adoración de los Reyes Magos de Gentile da Fabriano o La Venus de Urbino de Tizano, entre muchísimas otras. • La Iglesia de la Santa Croce con los sepulcros de grandes personajes de la historia de Italia como Dante, Maquiavelo, Galileo o Miguel Ángel.
• El Palacio Pitti, con sus inmensos salones y los espectaculares Jardines renacentistas de Bóboli, por los que dar un agradable paseo.

2. Unas vistas de cuadro

Tras el ineludible capítulo de museos, iglesias y monumentos os propongo disfrutar de una de las cosas que más me gustaron de Florencia: sus vistas. No sé si es fruto del influjo artístico de la ciudad que te sugestiona, pero a veces admirar la perspectiva puede llegar a parecer casi como contemplar un cuadro. El lugar fetiche para admirar Florencia y tener la típica imagen de postal con el Puente Viejo, la Catedral y la cúpula de Brunelleschi, el Palazzo Vecchio o la Sinagoga… es El Mirador Piazzale Michelangelo, situado sobre una colina en la orilla sur del río Arno. Si de verdad queréis disfrutar de la magia de este lugar y evitar la masificación de la tarde, probad a madrugar y visitarlo justo al amanecer. Si volvéis andando por el Giardino del Rose podréis admirar la gran cúpula del Duomo desde esta diferente perspectiva. Para llegar al mirador, se puede subir andando desde la orilla Sur Del Río Arno (hay varios caminos bien indicados) o coger el autobús 22 o 23 que llega hasta la plaza.

3. La Puesta de Sol desde el Ponte Santa Trinitá

El Ponte Santa Trinitá es considerado el puente florentino – y de Europa – más bonito y lo que de verdad te deja sin palabras es disfrutarlo a la puesta de sol, mientras se escucha a algún joven músico italiano tocando una pieza clásica. La construcción tiene su propia historia, ya que Miguel Ángel ideó el sistema de tres arcos que adelantó la llegada del barroco a la arquitectura y aportó la solidez suficiente para que el puente no se volviese a derribar por las inundaciones. Otra curiosidad es que en sus estrenos tiene cuatro esculturas que representan las cuatro estaciones y con ellas se celebró la boda de Cosme II con María Magdalena de Austria.

4. La vida del mercado de San Lorenzo

El Mercado Central de San Lorenzo es una de las mejores opciones no solo para comprar algún souvenir de la ciudad sino también para descubrir y disfrutar su gastronomía. El mercado fue construido en el siglo XIX y vende productos frescos y delicatessen toscanos: quesos, licores, paninis, setas, vinos… un lugar perfecto para almorzar observando a los compradores charlar animadamente con los dueños de los puestos.  Está abierto de lunes a viernes desde las 7.00am a 14.00pm y los sábados sólo por las tardes.

5. Oltrarno, o la otra Florencia tras el río

Parece que a los turistas les da un poco de reparo cruzar al otro lado del Río Arno (Oltrarno) , y eso que en esta zona se encuentran de interés como el Palacio Pitti con los Jardines del Bóboli o la Iglesia de San Miniato al Monte… pero por mí que se mantenga así siempre, porque atravesando el Ponte Vecchio se llega a una Florencia diferente, oculta, que todavía guarda la esencia de los artesanos de la región y te permite perderte sin mapa ni rumbo entre callejones retorcidos y enrevesados. El lugar de los oficios y las tradiciones, con edificios decadentes casi en ruinas que mantienen su belleza más clásica, anticuarios, restauradores, cientos de talleres – tienda – casa totalmente auténticas y peculiares que son verdaderos tesoros para los coleccionistas… y por supuesto el Ceri Vintage, donde encontrar piezas vintage de Valentino, Gucci o Ferragamo. Una curiosidad: si tenéis ocasión, pasaros por la galería de Abraham Clet, cuyas obras podréis ver en muchas de las señales de tráfico de toda la ciudad. No os olvidéis de descubrir este barrio, uno de mis lugares preferidos y mejor guardados de Florencia!

6. Los vinos de la Toscana

Disfrutar de los afamados vinos de la Toscana mientras se levanta la copa haciendo cin cin (como dicen ellos cuando brindan) es otro de los planazos de Florencia.  El Chianti es el vino más famoso e incluso se organizan excursiones desde Florencia para visitar la zona en la que se produce y alguna bodega, pero también en la ciudad podéis degustarlo acompañado de una focaccia, una deliciosa selección de quesos o embutidos que combinan a la perfección con su sabor. Aquí os dejo las que más nos gustaron:

• Enoteca Fuori Porta (Via del Mote alle Croci, 10), una de mis preferidas y con una terracita para olvidarse del paso del tiempo…!
• All’Antico Vinaio, simplemente alucinante (Via dei Neri 74)
• Enoteca Pontevecchio, donde os podréis quedar a cenar  (Corso dei Tintori, 21)
• Coquinarius (Via delle Oche, 11r)
• La Cantinetta Wine Shop (Borgo S. Lorenzo, 14)

7. Las trattorías!

Aunque los restaurantes en Florencia tienen fama de ser caros, todo es cuestión de buscar…saliendo de los recorridos más turísticos se encuentran lugares increíbles en los que comer por poco dinero. Os desvelo mis grandes tesoros…

Respecto a las mejores zonas,

• En Piazza Santo Spirito tenéis que probar algo tan típico italiano como “el aperitivo“, un pequeño buffet en el que se pueden degustar una gran variedad de platos de pasta, ensalada, carne, pizzas… por el pago de una bebida. También en esta plaza y sus alrededores encontraréis menús económicos con platos caseros de auténtica cocina italiana. Pero el verdadero must de la plaza es el pequeño Gustapanino , (lo econtrareis fácilmente por la cola que se forma en la entrada), calificado por muchos florentinos como la mejor enopaninoteca (lugar moderno para tomar vino y un sándwich) de la ciudad. El local no tiene asientos y tendréis que sentaros en las escaleras de la iglesia para poder tomar vuestro almuerzo, pero merece la pena!
• En la zona de Santa Croce también hay varios locales donde degustar especialidades típicas sin gastar demasiado.
• La Piazza del Passera es una pequeña plaza sin tráfico que se ha convertido en lugar de culto para foodies y gourmets. En ella se puede tomar desde una trippa barata y saludable  Il Magazzino  hasta clásicos toscanos algo más caros en la Trattoria 4 Leoni, famosa por su bistecca alla fiorentina (filete con hueso asado al carbón) servido desde 1550 (eso sí, fundamental reservar)

Y en cuanto a lugares con nombres y apellidos…

• Para disfrutar de una buena pasta, uno de los sitios más recomendables es  Vini e Vecchi Sapori, que se encuentra de camino hacia el Ponte Vecchio cercano a la Piazza de la Signora y que es tan pequeño que puede pasar fácilmente desapercibido y que no cuenta con ninguna indicación. Un lugar modesto con una comida extraordinaria y precios bastante módicos, con el inconveniente de que no aceptan reservas: tendréis que esperar en la calle a que se desocupe alguna de sus mesas.
• La Trattoria Za-Za es uno de los restaurantes de la Plaza del Mercato Centrale y es uno de estos sitios prácticamente desconocidos que me encanta descubrir dentro de los mercados, ya que sus clientes son los propios trabajadores de los puestos. El sitio no es bonito, sus mesas son pequeñas y está iluminado con velas. Pero tanto la comida, como la atención y como los precios son de los mejores de Florencia.
• Para tomar la única e inigualable pizza toscana uno de los locales más auténticos es I’ Pizzacchiereen San Miniato, con unas pizzas caseras para chuparse los dedos, probad la Margherita Regina, mmmm!
• Y para terminar, la Trattoria dei 13 Gobbi es uno de los restaurantes preferidos de los florentinos en el corazón del centro histórico (Via del Porcellana), probad sus platos estrella: el Rigatoni y la Bistecca alla Fiorentina.

8. De compras en Florencia

Para comprar moda, Florencia ofrece todas las opciones desde las más exclusivas en calles como Vía de Tornabuoni o Via della Vigna Nuova en las que se concentran firmas como Gucci, Prada, YSL o Armani, hasta las más accesibles en el Mercado de San Lorenzo. Pero para disfrutar de las compras sin las ordas de visitantes y turistas, lo mejor es perderse por las tiendas de Borgo La Croce, una zona en la que se concentran pequeñas tiendas y cafés que invitan a detenerse. Si vuestro viaje coincide con el último Domingo de mes, no os perdáis el mercado vintage que se celebra en Sant’Ambrosio.

Otro de los atractivos en la ciudad son las perfumerías y farmacias, como Dr. Vranjes (entre la Piazza Sant’Ambrogio y la de Beccaria),llena de fragancias y esencias, o la perfumería  – farmacia más antigua de Florencia: la Oficina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella (Via della Scala 16), fundada en 1612 por los monjes dominicos de Santa María Novella cuyo local está decorado con frescos tipo antigua farmacia y en el que podréis encontrar productos saludables, remedios naturales, e incluso pociones de los monjes que los mismos preparan (y con unas presentaciones preciosas para regalo!)

Y otra gran tradición son las joyerías del Ponte Vecchio. Ya no solo para comprar, solo ir a observar cómo tratan los artesanos sus piezas de joyería y orfebrería es alucinante. Si de verdad queréis comprar, en el barrio de Santo Spirito las encontraréis bonitas y a buen precio,

Finalmente, y para compras de artesanía, esta misma zona (Barrio de Santo Spirito) tiene tiendas de artesanía fina, que podrían pasar perfectamente por artesanías de lujo, y en la Vía Maggio se concentran unas tiendecitas preciosas de artesanía local y antigüedades.

9. Exprimiendo nuestras últimas horas…

El viaje está llegando a su fin, y no me gustaría dejarlo sin hablaros de unos cuantos sitios para salir a tomar algo con un toque especial antes de regresar casa…

• El Antico Caffe del Moro, conocido como el Café de los Artistas o Art Café, es uno de los lugares preferidos por los bohemios florentinos para tomar un café y conversar y lo que más llama la atención de él es la decoración del local,  con las paredes cubiertas de cuadros que los propios pintores usaban en el pasado para pagar sus consumiciones. Si os apetece tomar un cocktail en un ambiente diferente y bohemio, os recomiendo visitarlo (Via del Moro, 4)
• El Jazz Club de Florencia es otro lugar histórico que durante 25 años ha mantenido abiertas sus puertas a los amantes del jazz tradicional, el jazz fusión, el afro-cubano, funk y blues. EL sitio es una especie una cava de estilo francés donde se puede tomar unas copas y acompañadas de alguna preparación especial de la casa (Via Nuova dei Caccini, 3)
• Si buscáis animación de tarde-noche, El Barrio de Santa Croce es el lugar en el que estar: en ése concentran muchos bares, pubs y discotecas que siempre tienen movimiento y que suelen concentrar a la gente joven. A mí me gusta parar en The Book Pub a tomar una cerveza, es un lugar muy peculiar en el que sirven cervezas artesanas rodeados de libros y revistas viejas, y me parece precioso (Piazza Lorenzo Ghiberti, 11-12r)

10. … Y 3 hotelitos para soñar

Florencia esconde pequeños alojamientos con muchísimo encanto que van a hacer vuestros días todavía más memorables. Para mí hay tres en concreto inolvidables, tomad buena nota de ellos:

• El Hotel Continentale es simplemente maravilloso. Es el más caro de los tres que os propongo, y la noche puede salir por unos 200€. Es propiedad de la familia Ferragamo y no está en una situación inmejorable para ir caminando a todos sitios, sino que dentro cuida todos los detalles, desde la habitación hasta el desayuno, para que todo sea perfecto. Desde el balcón de la habitación os despertaréis con las vistas del Ponte Vecchio cada mañana, y desde la Terrazza, el bar de la azotea, podréis disfrutar de una panorámica increíble sobre el Río Arno.  (Viccolo dell’Oro, 6r)
• En un segundo escalón de precios, por unos 120€ la noche, está el San Giulianno Inn, situado a unos 200 metros de la Galería de la Academia y cuyas habitaciones cuentan en su mayoría con vistas a la catedral. Buena relación calidad precio teniendo en cuenta que todo dentro es impecable: la decoración, el estilo, el trato, el servicio… (Via Cavour, 33)
• Y por menos de 100€, el Hotel Orcagna está en una zona tranquila cerca del Río con un encantador jardín, recogido y relajado, e incluso con un jacuzzi en el que relajarse. Un hotelito moderno y cálido decorado en estilo industrial en el que estaréis cerca de todo (Via Orcagna 57/59)

Good Morning! Sunny and festive Monday with post fresh out of the oven, someone gives more? 🙂

It’s been a while since we’ve been talking about Italy, and I do not know about you, but I was throwing it a little here! This time we visited a city that stands out for a display of art and beauty out of the ordinary, in the all lover of the good life and the beautiful things falls surrendered and flashed within a few minutes of setting foot in its streets. Florence is intimate, manageable and welcoming (it can be visited perfectly in 2-3 days), and it does not lose importance, as it remains the Italian capital of the Renaissance and is popularly known as «The City of Art». But what I like most of it is the passegiatta or walk at sunset, feel the atmosphere of the Fiorentinos with their street concerts and artists who show their works on the sidewalks, and lose myself in some trattorias … a city with a little bit of everything for everybody, an interesting destination to discover, especially now that the light allows to lengthen the days. And if all this seems to you little, it is also a perfect center of operations for a tour of Tuscany, you can not ask for more 🙂

10 reasons to fall in love with Florence this spring

1. The essentials

I do not want to extend too much in the main tourist attractions of the city – which are infinite -, you can find them easily in any travel guide. I want to stop a little more in another Florence, something more alternative, with another special flavor … but I know that many of you take advantage of these posts to plan your trips, so I tell you what from my point of view would be the main hot spots to be covered:

• The Duomo and the dome Brunelleschi: Florence’s cathedral has a spectacular Neo-Gothic facade and if you climb to the top of its dome you will have a perfect panoramic view of the city. I do not think that inside is as beautiful as outside, if you do not give time to enter is not essential.
• The gates of Paradise, just in front of the Duomo facade, are the doors of the Battisterio de San Juan and are a replica of Ghiberti’s fifteenth-century bronze work showing 10 Old Testament scenes in gilded bronze.
• Piazza della Signoria with the Palazzo Vecchio: the central square of Florence is always full of tourists admiring its statues: the replicas of El Marzocco and Giuditta and Oloferne of Donatello, Michelangelo’s David, Perseus of Cellini, Hercules and Caco of Bandinelli, the two Termini, the Fountain of Neptune and the equestrian statue of Cosme I. The Palace, the current headquarters of the City Council, has as main complaint with the Cinquecento Great Hall with 39 panels that decorate the ceiling illustrating the highlights of the Great Duke of Tuscany.
• The Church of Santa Maria Novella, with the Trinity of Massaccio of the year 1425.
• The Ponte Vecchio, one of the main icons of the city, which crosses the river Arno and takes you immediately to the medieval period. Among its corners is the «Corridoio Vasariano» a secret passageway created by the Medici to connect the Palazzo Pitti with the Palazzo Vecchio without mixing with the town. If you want to know it you will have to reserve in time, since very few visits are made.
• The Galleria della Accademia and Michelangelo’s David: you can not leave Florence without admiring its proportions and dimensions live, although you will have to be prepared to wait long lines or to make you with the entrance online paying a little extra cost.
• The Galleria Uffizi, the famous Italian art gallery where you can easily spend several hours contemplating works such as The Birth of Venus or The Spring of Botticelli, The Adoration of the Magi of Gentile da Fabriano or The Venus of Urbino of Tizano, among many other. 2. A picture view

After the inescapable chapter of museums, churches and monuments I propose to enjoy one of the things that I liked most in Florence: its sights. I do not know if it is the result of the artistic influence of the city that suggests you, but sometimes admiring the perspective can come to seem almost like contemplating a painting. The fetish place to admire Florence and to have the typical postcard image with the Old Bridge, the Cathedral and the dome of Brunelleschi, the Palazzo Vecchio or the Synagogue … is the Mirador Piazzale Michelangelo, located on a hill on the south bank of the River Arno. If you really want to enjoy the magic of this place and avoid the massification of the afternoon, try to get up early and visit it just at dawn. If you walk along the Giardino del Rose you can admire the great dome of the Duomo from this different perspective. To get to the viewpoint, you can walk up from the south bank of the Rio Arno (there are several good roads) or take the bus 22 or 23 that reaches the square.

3. Sunset from Ponte Santa Trinitá

The Ponte Santa Trinità is considered the most beautiful Florentine -and European -bridge, and what really leaves you speechless is to enjoy it at sunset, while listening to some young Italian musician playing a classic piece. The construction has its own history, since Michelangelo devised the system of three arches that advanced the arrival of the Baroque to the architecture and provided the sufficient solidity so that the bridge did not return to demolish by the floods. Another curiosity is that in its premieres has four sculptures representing the four seasons and with them was held the wedding of Cosimo II with Mary Magdalene of Austria.

4. Life in San Lorenzo Market

The Central Market of San Lorenzo is one of the best options not only to buy souvenirs of the city but also to discover and enjoy its gastronomy. The market was built in the 19th century and sells fresh Tuscan products and delicatessens: cheeses, liqueurs, paninis, mushrooms, wines … a perfect place for lunch watching the shoppers chat animatedly with the owners of the stalls. It is open from Monday to Friday from 7.00am to 14.00pm and on Saturdays only in the afternoons.

5. Oltrarno, the other Florence behind the river

It seems that tourists are a bit of a pain to cross the other side of the River Arno (Oltrarno), and that in this area are of interest as the Pitti Palace with the Bóboli Gardens or the Church of San Miniato al Monte. .. but for me to stay that way always, because crossing the Ponte Vecchio you come to a different, hidden Florence, which still keeps the essence of the artisans of the region and allows you to lose yourself without a map or course between twisted and convoluted alleys. The place of trades and traditions, with decadent buildings almost in ruins that maintain their more classic beauty, antique dealers, restaurateurs, hundreds of workshops – house totally authentic and peculiar that are true treasures for the collectors … and of course The Ceri Vintage, where you can find vintage pieces by Valentino, Gucci or Ferragamo. A curiosity: if you have occasion, stop by the gallery of Abraham Clet, whose works you can see in many of the traffic signs of the whole city. Do not forget to discover this neighborhood, one of my favorite and best kept places in Florence!

6. The wines of Tuscany

Enjoy the famous wines of Tuscany while raising the glass making cin cin (as they say when they cheer) is another of Florence’s plans. The Chianti is the most famous wine and even tours are organized from Florence to visit the area where it is produced and some winery, but also in the city you can taste it accompanied by a focaccia, a delicious selection of cheeses or sausages that combine twith its flavor. Here I leave you the ones we liked the most:

• Enoteca Fuori Porta (Via del Monte alle Croci, 10), one of my favorites and with a little terrace to forget the passage of time …!
• All’Antico Vinaio, simply amazing (Via dei Neri 74)
• Enoteca Pontevecchio, where you can stay for dinner (Corso dei Tintori, 21)
• Coquinarius (Via delle Oche, 11r)
• La Cantinetta Wine Shop (Borgo S. Lorenzo, 14)

7. The trattorias!

Although restaurants in Florence are reputed to be expensive, it’s all a matter of looking for … out of the most touristy tours you will find incredible places to eat for little money. I bring you my great treasures …

Regarding the best areas,

• In Piazza Santo Spirito you have to try something as typical Italian as «the appetizer», a small buffet where you can taste a variety of pasta dishes, salad, meat, pizzas … for the payment of a drink. Also in this square and its surroundings you will find cheap menus with homemade dishes of authentic Italian cuisine. But the real must of the square is the little Gustapanino, (you’ll easily find it by the tail that forms at the entrance), described by many Florentines as the best enopaninoteca (modern place to drink wine and a sandwich) of the city. The place has no seats and you will have to sit on the steps of the church to take your lunch, but it is worth it!
• In the area of Santa Croce there are also several places to taste typical specialties without spending too much.
• Piazza del Passera is a small square without traffic that has become a place of worship for foodies and gourmets. In it you can take from an inexpensive and healthy trippa at Il Magazzino or to somewhat more expensive Tuscan classics at Trattoria 4 Leoni, famous for its bistecca alla fiorentina (steak with charcoal bone) served from 1550 (yes, fundamental reserve)

And as for specific places …

• To enjoy a good pasta, one of the most recommendable places is Vini e Vecchi Sapori, which is on the way to the Ponte Vecchio near Piazza de la Signora and which is so small that it can easily pass unnoticed and does not have No indication. A modest place with an extraordinary meal and very reasonable prices, with the inconvenience that they do not accept reservations: you will have to wait in the street to vacate some of their tables.
• Trattoria Za-Za is one of the restaurants in the Plaza del Mercato Centrale and it is one of these places that I almost love to discover inside the markets, since its customers are the workers themselves. The place is not nice, its tables are small and lit with candles. But both the food, the attention and the prices are among the best in Florence.
• To take the unique and incomparable Tuscan pizza one of the most authentic places is I ‘Pizzacchiereen San Miniato, with homemade pizzas to lick your fingers, try the Regina Margherita, mmmm!
• To finish, the Trattoria dei 13 Gobbi is one of the favorite restaurants of the Florentines in the heart of the historic center (Via del Porcellana), try their star dishes: the Rigatoni and the Bistecca alla Fiorentina.

8. Shopping in Florencia

To buy fashion, Florence offers all the options from the most exclusive in streets like Via de Tornabuoni or Villa della Vigna Nuova in which are concentrated companies like Gucci, Prada, YSL or Armani, to the most accessible in the Market of San Lorenzo. But to enjoy shopping without the tourists and tourists, the best thing is to get lost in the shops of Borgo La Croce, an area where small shops and cafes that invite you to stop. If your trip coincides with the last Sunday of the month, do not miss the vintage market that is celebrated in Sant’Ambrosio.

Another attraction in the city is perfumes and pharmacies, such as Dr. Vranjes (between Piazza Sant’Ambrogio and Beccaria), full of fragrances and essences, or the oldest perfume shop in Florence: the Profumo- Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella (Via della Scala 16), founded in 1612 by the Dominican monks of Santa Maria Novella whose place is decorated with frescoes type old pharmacy and in which you can find healthy products, natural remedies, and even potions of the monks that they prepare (and with some precious presentations!)

And another great tradition is the jewelers of the Ponte Vecchio. Not only to buy, just to observe how the artisans treat their pieces of jewelry and jewelry is amazing. If you really want to buy, in the neighborhood of Santo Spirito you will find them pretty and at a good price.

Finally, and for handicraft purchases, this same area (Barrio de Santo Spirito) has fine handicraft shops, which could pass well for luxury handicrafts, and on the Via Maggio there are some precious little shops of local handicrafts and antiques.

9. Squeezing our last hours …

The trip is coming to an end, and I would not want to leave without telling you a few places to go out for drinks with a special touch before returning home.

• The Antico Caffe del Moro, known as the Café of the Artists or Art Café, is one of the favorite places for Florentine bohemians to have a coffee and talk and what most catches his attention is the decoration of the place, with the walls covered with paintings that the painters themselves used in the past to pay for their drinks. If you fancy a cocktail in a different and bohemian atmosphere, I recommend you to visit it (Via del Moro, 4)
• The Jazz Club of Firenze is another historical place that for 25 years has kept its doors open to lovers of traditional jazz, fusion jazz, Afro-Cuban, funk and blues. The site is a kind of a french style cava where you can have a drink and accompanied by some special preparation of the house (Via Nuova dei Caccini, 3)
• For late-night entertainment, Barrio de Santa Croce is the place to be: there are many bars, pubs and nightclubs that are always busy and that usually concentrate young people. I like to stop at The Book Pub for a beer, it’s a very peculiar place where they serve artisan beers surrounded by old books and magazines, and I find it lovely (Piazza Lorenzo Ghiberti, 11-12r)

10. … And 3 little dream hotels

Florence hides accommodation with a lot of charm that will make your days even more memorable. For me there are three in particular unforgettable, take good note of them:

• Hotel Continentale is simply wonderful. It is the most expensive of the three that I propose, and the night can leave for about 200 €. It is owned by the Ferragamo family and is not in an unbeatable location for walking everywhere, but inside takes care of all the details, from the room to the breakfast, so that everything is perfect. From the balcony of the room you will wake up with the views of the Ponte Vecchio every morning, and from the Terrazza, the rooftop bar, you can enjoy an incredible panoramic view over the River Arno. (Viccolo dell’Oro, 6r)
• In a second price step, for about € 120 per night, is the San Giulianno Inn, located about 200 meters from the Accademia Gallery and whose rooms mostly have a view of the cathedral. Good value for money bearing in mind that everything inside is impeccable: the decor, the style, the service, the service … (Via Cavour, 33)
• And for less than 100 €, Hotel Orcagna is in a quiet area near the river with a lovely garden, collected and relaxed, and even with a jacuzzi to relax in. A modern and warm hotel decorated in an industrial style in which you will be close to everything (Via Orcagna 57/59)
