Hoy vengo a hablaros de uno de mis más recientes descubrimientos… ahora que he decidido meterme de lleno en el mundo de la fotografía de viajes, me he topado con Dronestagram, una red social de imágenes (y vídeos) captados con drones en todo el Mundo en la que cada fotografía se sube con su propia referencia geográfica. Con Dronestagram puedes ver en Mundo desde una perspectiva completamente diferente, y a mí que me apasionan las alturas y las vistas me tiene completamente enganchada. Según sus creadores, el objetivo que persigue esta plataforma es construir un mapa de la tierra «a vista de pájaro» con la colaboración de todos los usuarios… no os parece una iniciativa genial?

Los últimos cuatro años, en Dronestagram realizan un concurso para elegir las mejores capturas con drones de los usuarios, en base a diferentes categorías: Naturaleza, Gente/ Personas, Travel & Ciudades, Aventura & Deporte, Urbano, y, recientemente incorporada, Creatividad. Os puedo asegurar que las imágenes en cualquiera de las categorías son espectaculares, pero me encantan especialmente las de ciudades y grandes enclaves naturales del Mundo.

En el post de esta semana me gustaría compartir con vosotros algunas de mis preferidas: 10 imágenes que fueron candidatas, finalistas o ganadoras tanto de este año como de los anteriores… a ver si os gustan tanto como a mí! La verdad es que, si ya en sí el Mundo es precioso, desde esta perspectiva me lo parece todavía más 😍

 

1. Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. De J.Courtial

Este lugar ya de por sí es místico, imponente, arrebatador… pero si además la imagen consigue captar toda su grandeza como es este caso, te deja directamente sin palabras. Sigiriya o La Roca el León es un yacimiento arqueológico situado en Matale, Sri Lanka,  y en él se encuentran las ruinas de un antiguo palacio construido durante el reino del rey Kasyapa entre los años 477 y 495. En su entrada tiene una gran extensión de terreno con diferentes edificaciones y árboles llamada los Jardines Reales, y en su ascenso hacia Lion’s Rock entre dos grandes garras de león de piedra, aparecen unas escaleras de unos 29 peldaños en la piedra que llevan a la vertiginosa escalera metálica clavada en los laterales e la roca.  El ascenso es muy empinado e interminable hasta la zona superior conocida como la terraza donde las vistas son impresionantes. La foto permite hacerse una idea de todo ello y transportarse a esa sensación de vértigo y adrenalina sin haber estado allí.

2. Lost Island Tahaa, Polinesia Francesa. De Marahama Photo Video

Esta imagen ganó el tercer premio en el año 2015 y me transmite toda la esencia de la Polinesia Francesa: perderse en una isla en medio de la nada, rodearse de aguas cristalinas y disfrutar de la naturaleza y de la vida. Me encanta cómo han captado el contraste entre el cielo soleado a la izquierda y las oscuras nubes a la derecha entre las que se asoma el arco iris. Simplemente preciosa.

 

3. Cristo Redentor de Rio de Janeiro. De Alexandre Salem

Esta imagen fue tomada en el año 2015 justo sobre la cabeza del Cristo Redentor, una estatua de 30 metros que abre sus brazos a Río de Janeiro desde el Cerro del Corcovado y que estamos acostumbrados a ver desde abajo hacia arriba, es decir, desde los pies. A su derecha, los edificios de la ciudad de Rio y a la izquierda, la tupida vegetación del cerro. Desde luego, una perspectiva inusual y muy diferente de la habitual.

 

4. Venecia y Murano desde el Campanile. De Maurizio Torresan

No sé los cientos de fotos que puedo tener de la Plaza de San Marcos y el Campanile en Venecia, tomadas en diferentes años y épocas del año. Pero ésta imagen hace ver este lugar y sus alrededores de una manera completamente distinta, incluso apreciando la curvatura propia del Planeta Tierra. En la toma se puede apreciar también no solo la Giudecca sino incluso la isla de Murano. Y parece que no fue fácil conseguirla: las gaviotas terminaron por derribar el don que cayó al agua y, aunque el aparato quedó inservible, su dueño al menos pudo recuperar todas las fotografías.

 

5. Basílica de San Francisco de Asis. De fcattuto

 

La imagen fue la ganadora del primer premio en la categoría Travel en 2016 y muestra la popular basílica de Asís, la ciudad medieval lugar de nacimiento del fundador de la Orden Religiosa Franciscana. El lugar es hoy en día una meta para los creyentes de su mensaje y en la imagen se puede ver con detalle la iglesia, el Claustro y el conjunto casi “flotando“ entre las nubes, aumentando la sensación de espiritualidad.

 

6. Stonehenge, Inglaterra. De Yowzer

Stonehenge, la famosa reliquia de la Edad de Piedra cargada de leyendas y magia, aparece aquí desde el cielo mostrando su agrupación circular de elementos de piedra perfectamente alineados para marcar la salida y la puesta de sol durante los solsticios de verano e invierno. En la imagen se distingue perfectamente su círculo exterior y las bluestones, así como la estructura en forma de herradura en el centro y la Piedra del Altar. Dicen que el propósito de su construcción fue ser un centro  ritual prehistórico alineado con el movimiento del Sol que ayudaba a las primeras comunidades agrícolas

 

 

7. Emerald Lake, Alaska. De 20cPetersen

El Lago Esmeralda, en el parque Yoho de Canadá, es el más grande de los 61 lagos del parque y destaca tanto por las tonalidades verdes de sus aguas y como por el increíble entorno silvestre en el que se encuentra. Es conocido también como el espejo de Canadá por la manera en la que sus aguas cristalinas reflejan el paisaje y está rodeado por una ruta de unos 5 kms. que permite pasear por la orilla y admirar la fuerte intensidad de sus colores. La imagen muestra toda la magia del lugar, además de la Cordillera President (que forma parte de las alucinantes Montañas Rocosas) que lo rodea.

 

 

8. Navagio Beach, Grecia. De manos g

La espectacular imagen de la Playa el Navagio desde las alturas ha sido una de las cosas más convincentes para que este verano hayamos decidido ir a conocerla. Supongo que la perspectiva que tendremos de ella no será igual que ésta, pero al menos espero disfrutar de estas aguas cristalinas y tirarme en su arena blanca… disfrutando de este lugar especial y único en el planeta.

 

9. Golden Gate Bridge. De GotShots

¿Qué me decís de esta imagen del símbolo por excelencia de San Francisco? Hasta llega a transmitir un poco de vértigo…  La fotografía enseña una pequeña parte de uno de los puentes colgantes más altos y largos del mundo, con sus 227 metros de altura y 2,7 kms. de longitud, construido sobre la bahía de San Francisco. Hoy en día es la única manera de cruzarla (en el pasado la bahía quedaba obstruida por la gran cantidad de ferries que circulaban por sus aguas) y cuenta con un mirador para admirarlo, el Mirador H. Dana Bowers o “Vista Point», desde el que seguro que hay una buena perspectiva pero no como la que muestra la instantánea.

 

10. Bagan, Myanmar. De Bruno Duplantier

Para terminar, uno de mis lugares favoritos del Mundo: Bagan, en este caso al amanecer.   Esta pequeña área puede que sea uno de los lugares más fascinantes de Myanmar y está salpicada por más de 3.000 templos, esculturas y pagodas que aparecen sin un orden concreto entre la jungla y caminos terrosos de tonalidades rojas. La mejor manera de disfrutarla es a bordo de un globo aerostático, desde el cual podemos tener una vista bastante parecida a ésta y disfrutar de una de esas experiencias que hay que vivir al menos una vez en la vida.

 

 

Ojalá esta red social siga creciendo y apostando por difundir este tipo de imágenes para que gente como yo podamos seguir disfrutándolas… Además escribiendo el post he pensado en otras cuentas de Instagram sobre viajes que he descubierto que son lo más! (si os apetece conocerlas, las comparto con vosotros más adelante)

Hello world!

Today I come to tell you about one of my most recent discoveries … now that I have decided to dive right into the world of travel photography, I have found Dronestagram, a social network of images (and videos) captured with drones around the world in which each photograph is uploaded with its own geographical reference. With Dronestagram you can see in World from a completely different perspective, and to me that I am passionate about heights and views has me completely hooked. According to its creators, the objective pursued by this platform is to build a map of the land «bird’s eye view» with the collaboration of all users … do not you think a great initiative?

The last four years, in Dronestagram, a contest to choose the best captures with user drones, based on different categories: Nature, People / People, Travel & Cities, Adventure & Sport, Urban, and, recently incorporated, Creativity. I can assure you that the images in any of the categories are spectacular, but I especially love those of cities and great natural enclaves of the World.

In this week’s post I would like to share with you some of my favorites: 10 images that were candidates, finalists or winners of both this year and the previous ones … to see if you like them as much as I do! The truth is that, if the World itself is precious, from this perspective it seems even more so 😍

 

1. Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. By J.Courtial

This place is already mystical, imposing, breathtaking … but if the image also manages to capture all its greatness as is this case, it leaves you directly speechless. Sigiriya or The Lion Rock is an archaeological site located in Matale, Sri Lanka, and it contains the ruins of an ancient palace built during the reign of King Kasyapa between 477 and 495. At its entrance it has a large area of land with different buildings and trees called the Royal Gardens, and in its ascent to Lion’s Rock between two large stone lion claws, appear some stairs of 29 steps in the stone that lead to the vertiginous metallic staircase nailed to the sides and the rock. The ascent is very steep and endless to the upper area known as the terrace where the views are breathtaking. The photo allows you to get an idea of all this and transport yourself to that feeling of vertigo and adrenaline without having been there.

2. Lost Island Tahaa, French Polynesia. By Marahama Photo Video

This image won the third prize in 2015 and transmits to me the essence of French Polynesia: getting lost on an island in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by crystal clear waters and enjoying nature and life. I love how they have captured the contrast between the sunny sky on the left and the dark clouds on the right between which the rainbow looks out. Simply beautiful.

 

3. Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro. By Alexandre Salem

This image was taken in 2015 just above the head of Christ the Redeemer, a 30-meter statue that opens its arms to Rio de Janeiro from the Cerro del Corcovado and that we are used to seeing from the bottom up, that is, from the feet. On your right, the buildings of the city of Rio and on the left, the dense vegetation of the hill. Of course, an unusual perspective and very different from the usual one.

4. Venice and Murano from the Campanile. By Maurizio Torresan

I do not know the hundreds of photos I can have of St. Mark’s Square and the Campanile in Venice, taken in different years and times of the year. But this image shows this place and its surroundings in a completely different way, even appreciating the curvature of Planet Earth itself. In the shot you can also see not only the Giudecca but even the island of Murano. And it seems that it was not easy to get it: the gulls ended up knocking down the gift that fell into the water and, although the device was unusable, its owner could at least recover all the photographs.

 

5. Basilica of San Francisco de Asis. By fcattuto

The image was the winner of the first prize in the Travel category in 2016 and shows the popular basilica of Assisi, the medieval city birthplace of the founder of the Franciscan Religious Order. The place is today a goal for the believers of his message and in the image you can see in detail the church, the Cloister and the whole almost «floating» among the clouds, increasing the sense of spirituality.

 

6. Stonehenge, England. By Yowzer

Stonehenge, the famous relic of the Stone Age laden with legends and magic, appears here from the sky showing its circular grouping of stone elements perfectly aligned to mark the sunrise and sunset during the summer and winter solstices. In the image, its outer circle and bluestones are perfectly distinguished, as well as the horseshoe-shaped structure in the center and the Altar Stone. They say that the purpose of its construction was to be a prehistoric ritual center aligned with the movement of the sun that helped the first agricultural communities

 

7. Emerald Lake, Alaska. By 20cPetersen

The Emerald Lake, in the Yoho park in Canada, is the largest of the park’s 61 lakes and stands out for the green tones of its waters and for the incredible wild environment in which it is located. It is also known as the mirror of Canada for the way in which its crystal clear waters reflect the landscape and is surrounded by a route of about 5 kms. that allows you to walk along the shore and admire the strong intensity of its colors. The image shows all the magic of the place, in addition to the Cordillera President (which is part of the amazing Rocky Mountains) that surrounds it.

 

8. Navagio Beach, Greece. By manos g

The spectacular image of Navagio Beach from the heights has been one of the most convincing things so that this summer we decided to go and discover it. I guess the perspective we will have of it will not be the same as this one, but at least I hope to enjoy these crystal clear waters and throw myself in its white sand … enjoying this special and unique place on the planet.

 

9. Golden Gate Bridge. By GotShots

What do you tell me about this image of the symbol par excellence of San Francisco? It even transmits a bit of vertigo … The photograph shows a small part of one of the tallest and longest suspension bridges in the world, with its 227 meters high and 2.7 kms. in length, built on the bay of San Francisco. Today is the only way to cross it (in the past the bay was obstructed by the large number of ferries that circulated through its waters) and has a lookout to admire it, the H. Dana Bowers Viewpoint or «Vista Point», from the one that sure there is a good perspective but not like the one that shows the snapshot.

 

10. Bagan, Myanmar. By Bruno Duplantier

To finish, one of my favorite places in the World: Bagan, in this case at sunrise. This small area may be one of the most fascinating places in Myanmar and is dotted by more than 3,000 temples, sculptures and pagodas that appear without a specific order between the jungle and earthy red tones. The best way to enjoy it is on board a hot air balloon, from which we can have a pretty similar view and enjoy one of those experiences that you have to live at least once in your life.
