Este año va tocando a su fin…
Tiempo de despedidas, de quedarse con lo bueno y olvidar lo malo, y sobre todo de mirar con ilusión y expectativas al 2016…
Mi 2015 ha venido cargado de aventuras. Recuerdo que empezó en las playas de Cancún escuchando a David Guetta, y desde entonces me ha permitido perderme por aquí cerca en Ibiza, Tarifa, Segovia y la Ribera del Duero, por Europa viendo Nápoles, la Costa Amalfitana y Ámsterdam, y muy muy lejos por Brasil. Me queda la espinita de no haber aprovechado más este tramo final de año, pero poco a poco se aproxima la gran despedida en Miami que espero que ponga la guinda final por todo lo alto y me quite los remordimientos…os lo prometí como primer post del año, así que tiene que ser muy muy especial!!
De este año me quedo con muchas cosas, pero especialmente con que TrippingBites haya visto la luz. Desde que cobró vida en Septiembre, me ha permitido estar en un viaje permanente a lo largo del año, recordar momentos increíbles y evadirme cuando más lo necesitaba. Cada nuevo tripper que se sumaba a la familia desde cualquier rincón del mundo era una una alegría inmensa, jamás pensé que este blog pudiese tener este alcance internacional y a día de hoy puedo decir que el mapa sigue tiñéndose de color rojo… ¿dónde llegaremos en 2016?
Pero nada de ponerse nostálgicos, es momento de dar el siguiente paso, y de soñar con nuevos destinos… ¿Ya habéis pensado en algún lugar al que os gustaría ir el año que viene? Yo sí! 😉 Mi wishlist tripper es, como siempre, interminable. Tengo taantos lugares que me gustaría descubrir!! Ginebra, Lausanne y Berna, Malta, Cabo Verde, la Toscana, Sri Lanka, la Provenza… muchos destinos y poco tiempo en el año para visitarlos, así que me temo que habrá que elegir 😦
Esta semana me despido de vosotros hasta Enero y el post no podría ser más adecuado… si la semana pasada vivíamos las Navidades más curiosas del planeta, hoy nos vamos de fiesta!!
Siempre he pensado que, aunque Nochebuena y Nochevieja en teoría son dos noches igualmente festivas, la noche de Fin de Año tiene un espíritu totalmente distinto: en mi caso la Nochebuena es siempre más recogida y familiar, mientras que Nochevieja es mucho más activa, impulsiva y viajera… Así que esta semana en TrippingBites repasamos los 10 destinos más sugerentes para pasar la Noche de Fin de Año y recibir con los brazos abiertos al 2016… ¿os apuntáis al viaje?
1. SHANGAI:
El Año Nuevo chino es uno de los festivales más grandes de Shanghai, y es muy impactante la gran cantidad de decoraciones de color rojo en los edificios, plazas y calles: todas vestidas con cintas, globos y faroles rojos.
En el bazar Yu Yuan Old Town se realiza el desfile de faroles tradicionales, con linternas hechas de papel y madera en lugar de las linternas eléctricas y neón que se reparten por toda la ciudad.
Shanghai cuenta con una espectacular exhibición de fuegos artificiales muy esperada por turistas y locales, que abarrotan las bahias, plazas y calles para poder verlo en primera fila. Los impresionantes fuegos además cumplen con una tradición china en la que se dice que se ahuyenta a un mounstruo maligno gracias a la iluminación que se produce en la noche.
2. NOCHEVIEJA EN EL DESIERTO
Marruecos
Tomar las uvas en otro país, en otra cultura y en pleno desierto de Mezouga es sin duda uno de los planes más exóticos para el fin de año. Un paisaje lleno de horizonte, una cena especial, hoguera, música tradicional bereber y tuareg, agradable compañía y una noche llena de emociones son ingredientes más que suficientes para plantearse una despedida de año bajo las estrellas del desierto de Marruecos. La mayoría de los alojamientos de Merzouga han incorporado la tradición española de las uvas y se organizan paquetes y tours especiales para esta señalada fecha, que empiezan la mañana del 31 de Diciembre al amanecer, admirando la salida del sol entre las dunas, y organizan una cena típica bereber en el oasis de Ramlia en pleno corazón del desierto donde despedir el año viejo al sonido del TAM-TAM.
Namibia
El desierto de Namib («enorme», en lengua nama ), ofrece un atardecer de ensueño, la luz del sol relejándose sobre su arena oxidada tiñe de rojo las dunas del desierto más longevo del mundo.Sus dos principales atracciones serían Sesriem y Sossusvlei, dos refugios desde los que admirar por la noche la bóveda de estrellas, y el hito es subir a la Duna 45. Si buscáis una perspectiva diferente de las dunas, hay paseos en globo para observarlas a casi 2.000 metros de altura, vuelos en avioneta… Una experiencia inolvidable para despedir el 2015.
3. ALPES SUIZOS
Si os gusta la nieve, nada puede superar un primero de enero deslizándose por las mejores pistas del mundo como las de St Moritz o Crans Montana, dos de las estaciones con mejor reputación entre aficionados y profesionales.
También destaca Gstaad con sus pequeñas y cuidadas calles peatonales, chalets de estilo alpino con los techos repletos de nieve, emblemáticos hoteles, las tiendas más caras y exclusivas, y sus más de 250 km de pistas de esquí… todo ello rodeado de bosques, prados y lagos, y enmarcado por los impresionantes Alpes suizos.
Y no os preocupéis, si no se tenéis mucha maña con los esquíes, podéis pasear sobre raquetas (es divertidísimo) por los senderos más bellos del planeta.
4. TAILANDIA
Destinos como Phuket o Krabi despliegan en sus fiestas playeras los típicos farolillos y linternas flotantes para pedir los mejores deseos al nuevo año.
Lo más curioso es que el Año Nuevo Tailandés en realidad se produce en Abril: se llama Songkran y es un festival que gira en torno al agua donde grandes y pequeños lo celebran tirándose al agua como vía de purificación. También se hacen batallas de agua en la calle y todos se pintan la cara con polvos de talco.
El Loi Katrong (el auténtico ritual de lanzar farolillos encendidos al aire) se celebra en Noviembre, pero en fin de año los tailandeses recurren también a este símbolo para celebrar el comienzo de una nueva etapa, dejando atrás todo lo negativo y empezar con los nuevos retos del año. Luces, color y música inundan las calles, la gente decora sus casas, jardines y templos llenándolos de luces.
Además, se realizan múltiples ritos en los templos como los rezos con una cuerda unida techo del templo, echarle agua al Buda…
Los fuegos artificiales iluminan la playa, la gente abarrota las calles y la fiesta se extiende a lo largo de la noche en todos los resorts, bares, clubs y discotecas de interés. La escena es preciosa, con cientos de personas lanzando farolillos al cielo con sus deseos para el nuevo año, una de las costumbres más bonitas que he visto en el planeta.
5.BAHÍA DE BANDERAS, NAYARIT
La Bahía de Banderas, en el estado mexicano de Nayarit, es una de las más grandes del Pacífico y su principal atracción es poder ver el espectacular fenómeno natural del rayo verde, que dá la bienvenida al nuevo año.
- El Destello verde, o rayo verde, es un fenómeno óptico que ocurre poco después de la puesta de sol o poco antes de su salida, en el que se puede ver como un rayo verde que sale del punto donde se ha puesto el sol y que es todavía más visible en el océano donde el horizonte no presenta obstáculos. Este concepto se popularizó gracias a la novela de Julio Verne, «El rayo verde» (1882)
La época además coincide con la temporada de migraciones animales, y permite el avistamiento de ballenas grises y jorobadas, o de los cientos de especies de aves migratorias que llegan a San Blas, las Islas Marietas, Isla Isabel o sus alrededores.
Desde este punto, se puede acceder fácilmente a la región de las Lagunas Encantadas en el centro del estado de Nayarit, donde practicar cualquier deporte acuático o degustar manjares elaborados con pescado y marisco fresco en alguno de sus restaurantes.
6. MIAMI
No es que yo esté sesgada y tenga muchísimas ganas de verme ya allí ;)… El periódico USA Today considera que Miami es uno de los diez mejores destinos en los Estados Unidos para esta gran celebración.
La Nochevieja en Miami es una fiesta para salir con los amigos y disfrutar de los numerosos eventos que esta ciudad ofrece. La noche del Fin de Año es típico ir a comer fuera en un buen restaurante y disfrutar de una buena comida, para después pasar el Fin de Año en Bay Front Park, donde se espera que llegue la “Big Orange”, el icono de fin de año de la ciudad que asciende lentamente por el Hotel Intercontinental y llega al tope a medianoche, cuando se inicia un gran espectáculo de fuegos artificiales lanzados sobre la hermosa Bahía de Biscayne. En Bay Front Park, distintas bandas de música acompañan todos los actos y eventos.
En Miami Beach, entre las calles séptima y novena, un sinfín de DJs de reconocimiento internacional pinchan en un evento hasta altas horas de la madrugada. Pero una vez llegadas las 12 de la noche, la fiesta sigue en todos los hoteles, clubs y discotecas. Una de las más sonadas es la de Nikki Beach, donde ser hace la cuenta atrás en la arena, hay una caída de globos al estilo de Nueva York, brindis, cotillón y espectáculo de fuegos artificiales en la playa. La fiesta comienza a las 8 de la noche el 31 de diciembre y termina a las 5 de la mañana el 1 de enero.
La Nochevieja puede también disfrutarse a bordo de un crucero, parten antes de comer y regresan a las dos o a las tres de la madrugada.
7. RIO DE JANEIRO
La noche del 31 de Diciembre, la playa de Copacabana se convierte en la fiesta de Fin de Año más larga del planeta, es una de las más conocidas del Mundo (incluso llega a superar los Carnavales), y en ella se dan cita más de dos millones de personas. Conocida también como Reveillon, cuenta con música en directo, bailes, fuegos artificiales y ofrendas a la diosa Yemanjá. La fiesta de Fin de Año en Río es sinónimo de magia y color, aunque una de las curiosidades es que la mayoría de los locales van vestidos de blanco: para ellos fin de año es un buen momento para la renovación y dejar atrás el pasado, y la mejor forma es vestir de blanco para traer paz al nuevo año.
Durante los días previos a la Nochevieja la ciudad se va llenando poco a poco, y en las playas de Copacabana e Ipanema cada vez se hace más difícil transitar. Todos los hoteles, terrazas, restaurantes de la Avenida Atlántica de Copacabana se visten de luces y se preparan para una noche especial y única.
El punto culminante de la noche son las 12, y a medida que se va acercando el momento, Copacabana se va convirtiendo en una fiesta gigante. Segundos antes empieza la famosa cuenta atrás… y finalmente el momento más esperado e intenso de la noche, son los fuegos artificiales a lo largo de los 4 kilómetros de playa. Al terminarse, toda la playa empieza a bailar al ritmo de samba y de música electrónica, y la fiesta sigue hasta altas horas de la madrugada. Los más atrevidos se dan un baño durante la noche, y la tradición dice que saltando 7 olas para abrirse camino y ofreciendo flores blancas a la diosa Yemanja, la diosa del mar, se asegura un buen año nuevo.
8. LONDRES
Las fiestas de fin de año se celebran por todo lo alto por los británicos, llegando a ser de las más famosas de Europa por su excentricidad. Desfiles, música, espectáculos teatrales y circenses… Nada es demasiado para celebrar las fechas más entrañables del año.
El evento atrae a una gran cantidad de gente de todo el mundo, y por lo tanto se debe ir preparado para pasar unas cuantas horas de pie y llegar con bastante tiempo de antelación: Debéis tener en cuenta también que desde el 2014, en algunas zonas cobran entrada. Otras alternativas son los restaurantes con vistas y los puntos más altos de Londres (Primrose Hill, Parliament Hill, Alexandra Palace o Cannon Hill, al lado de Bank), desde los cuales se puede ver el London Eye, siendo éstos últimos los preferidos por los londinenses.
Y la última alternativa que os propongo es disfrutar del espectáculo haciendo un crucero por el Támesis, que incluye también la cena de Nochevieja… un momento redondo!
9. EDIMBURGO:
Después de las Navidades, Edimburgo se prepara para acoger una de las celebraciones de fin de año más especiales del Mundo: el “Hogmanay”, una gran fiesta celta con encanto cuyos festejos empiezan antes de la noche del 31 de Diciembre extendiéndose durante cuatro días en los que se distribuyen eventos como conciertos, festivales, procesiones de antorchas, fiestas y gymkanas a pie de calle, así como un sinfín de actividades en la que se despliegan tanto nuevas tradiciones como cortumbres ancestrales.
La fiesta comienza con un multitudinario desfile de antorchas (Torchlight procession), en el que cerca de 30.000 personas recorren la Royal Mile encabezadas por un grupo de gaiteros hasta subir a Calton Hill, donde un espectáculo de fuegos artificiales pone el broche de oro a la fiesta: es el Midnight Moment, en el que tanto el Castillo de Edimburgo como Calton Hill iluminan toda la ciudad con su pirotecnia.
- Los escoceses llaman The Bells a la última hora del año justo cuando pasamos de la Nochevieja al Año Nuevo. Unos minutos antes, se dan las manos (cruzando los brazos sobre el pecho y formando un círculo con los demás) y cantan Auld Lang Syne, inspirada en un poema de Robert Burns. Esta tradición también se mantiene en otros países anglosajones.
La Catedral de Saint Giles ofrece todos los años un concierto de música barroca con el interior de la catedral iluminado por cientos de velas. De ahí su nombre, Candlelit Concert.
Además, en plena Royal Mile, se realiza un baile multitudinario (The Old Town Ceilidh), que compite cada año por entrar en el Guiness de los récords al congregar a miles de personas bailando ceilidh (la danza tradicional escocesa) a un mismo tiempo.
El Hogmanay en Edimburgo termina con un el loony dook, o «chapuzón de locos”: donde los escoceses se bañan en las heladas aguas del fiordo de Forth.
10. NUEVA ORLEANS:
El espíritu del Mardi Gras revive en la gran ciudad de Luisiana el último día del año. El espectáculo está en plena calle, en concreto en las inmediaciones de Bourbon St., en pleno Barrio Francés. La fiesta está por todas partes, en los hoteles, en los restaurantes, en los locales de jazzz…
Si quieres unirte a una de las fiestas más reputadas, pásate por la azotea del Pat O´s On the River, en el edificio JAX Brewery (Decatur St.), en ella colocan la figura de un niño en representación del año nuevo y se dan oficialmente las campanadas y la cuenta atrás (unos 150$ con cena y cotillón).
Otra alternativa no menos interesante es hacer un recorrido en barco por las orillas del Mississippi o contemplar los fuegos artificiales en Jackson Square para inaugurar el año nuevo.

Time farewells to keep the good and forget the bad, to look forward to 2016 …
My 2015 has been full of adventures. It began on the beaches of Cancun listening to David Guetta, and since then has made me get lost around here in Ibiza, Tarifa, Segovia and Ribera del Duero, around Europe seeing Naples, the Amalfi Coast and Amsterdam, and very far in Brazil. I left the thorn of not seizing over this final stretch of the year, but gradually approaching the grand farewell in Miami who hope to put the final icing on a high and I take my remorse … I promised it would be the first post of the year , so it has to be very very special !!
This year I stay with many things, but especially with that TrippingBites has seen the light. From that came to life in September, it has allowed me to be traveling constantly throughout the year, to remember incredible moments and avoid me when I needed it. Each new tripper that was added to the family from anywhere in the world was a great joy, I never thought that this blog could have this global reach and today I can say that the map still dying in red color … where will we get in 2016?
But nothing to get nostalgic, it is time to take the next step and consider new destinations … Do you have already thought of somewhere you would want to go next year? I do! 😉 My tripper wishlist is, as always, interminable. There are sooooo many places I like to discover !! Geneva, Lausanne and Bern, Malta, Cabo Verde, Tuscany, Sri Lanka, Provence … many destinations and little time in the year to visit, so I’m afraid I will have to choose 😦
This week I bid you farewell until January and the post could not be more appropriate … if last week we lived the most special Christmas on the planet, today we’re going to party !!
I always thought that although Christmas and New Year are theoretically two equally festive nights, the night of New Year has a totally different spirit: in my case Christmas Eve is always collected and family, while Eve is much more active, impulsive and traveling … So this week in TrippingBites reviewed the 10 most suggestive destinations for New Year‘s Eve and welcome with open arms 2016 … Would you join the trip?
1. SHANGAI:
The Chinese New Year is one of the biggest festivals in Shanghai, and is very impressive the many red decorations on buildings, squares and streets: all dressed in red ribbons, balloons and lanterns.
In Yu Yuan Bazaar in the Old Town, the traditional lantern parade takes place, with lanterns are made of paper and wood instead of flashlights and neon are used differently throughout the city.
Another place worth consideration for hosting the New Year in Shanghai’s Longhua Temple, where traditional bell ringing ceremony takes place at midnight as a sign of welcome to the next New Year.
Shanghai has a spectacular display of fireworks awaited by tourists and locals who pack the bays, squares and streets to see him in the front row. Impressive fires also meet with Chinese tradition where it is said that chases away an evil monster by lighting that occurs at night.
2. NEW YEAR’S EVE IN THE DESERT
Morocco
Take grapes in another country, another culture, and in the desert of Mezouga, is undoubtedly one of the most exotic plans for the end of the year. A horizon full of landscape, a special dinner, bonfire, traditional Berber and Tuareg music, good company and a night full of emotions are very good reasons to consider a New Year’s Eve under the stars of the Moroccan desert. Most Merzouga accommodations have incorporated the Spanish tradition of grapes and offer special tours for this important date, starting the morning of December 31 at dawn, admiring the sunrise in the dunes, and ending with a Typical Berber dinner in an oasis in the heart of Ramlia desert with the sound of the tam-tam.
Namibia
The Namib Desert («huge» in Nama language), offers a dreamy sunset, relaxing sunlight on his rusty stained red sand dunes of the longest desert in the world. The two main attractions would be Sesriem and Sossusvlei, two shelters for the night to admire the vault of stars, and the milestone is up to the dune 45. 3. SWISS ALPS
If you like snow, nothing can beat an early January sliding down the best tracks in the world like St. Moritz and Crans Montana, two of the stations with the best reputation among amateurs and professionals.
Gstaad also stands out with its small , well-kept pedestrian streets, Alpine-style chalets with ceilings full of snow, emblematic hotels , the most expensive and exclusive shops, and over 250 km of ski slopes … all surrounded by forests , meadows and lakes, and framed by the stunning Swiss Alps.
And do not worry if you are not very skilled with the skis, you can walk on snowshoes (it is hilarious ) for the most beautiful trails in the world.
4. THAILAND
Destinations like Phuket or Krabi spread in their beach parties the typical floating lanterns and flashlights to seek the best wishes to the new year.
The strange thing is that the Thai New Year is actually produced in April, and is called Songkran: s a festival that revolves around where adults and children celebrate by jumping into the water through water purification. Water fights are also made in the street and all the face with talcum powder paint.
The Loi Katrong (the authentic ritual of launching air lanterns lit) held in November, but at year-end Thai also use this symbol to celebrate the beginning of a new stage, leaving everything negative and start with new challenges of the year. Light, color and music flood the streets, people decorate their houses, gardens and temples lights filling.
In addition, multiple rites are performed in temples as a united prayer rope temple roof, pour water to the Buddha …
Fireworks light up the beach, people crammed the streets and party extends throughout the night in all resorts, bars, clubs and discos interest. The scene is beautiful, with hundreds of people throwing the sky lanterns with wishes for the new year, one of the most beautiful ways I’ve seen on the planet.
5.BANDERAS BAY, NAYARIT
Banderas Bay in the Mexican state of Nayarit, is one of the largest in the Pacific and its main attraction is to see the spectacular natural phenomenon of the green ray, welcoming the new year.
- Flashing green or green ray is an optical phenomenon that occurs shortly after sunset or just before his departure, which can be seen as a green beam exiting the point where it has become the soly are even more visible in the ocean where nothing obstacles the horizon. This concept was popularized by Jules Verne’s novel, «The Green Ray» (1882)
The period also coincides with the seasonal migrations of animals, and allows the sighting of gray and humpback whales, or the hundreds of species of migratory birds that come to San Blas, the Marietas Islands, or Isabel. From this point, you can easily access to the Enchanted Lakes region in the center of the state of Nayarit, where you can practice any water sport or to taste dishes prepared with fresh seafood at one of its restaurants.
6. MIAMI
I’m not biased because I really wanted to see me and there 😉 … also the paper USA Today considers that Miami is one of the top ten destinations in the United States for this great celebration.
New Year’s Eve in Miami is a feast for going out with friends and enjoy the many events that the city offers. Night New Year’s Eve is typical to eat out at a nice restaurant and enjoy a good meal, then spend the New Year in Bay Front Park, where it is expected to reach the «Big Orange» the icon that slowly ascends the Intercontinental Hotel and reach the top at midnight, when starting an extravaganza of fireworks launched over the beautiful Biscayne Bay. At Bay Front Park, various bands accompany all acts and events.
In Miami Beach, between Seventh and Ninth streets, internationally recognized DJ performance until the morning. The party goes on all hotels, clubs and discos. One of the most talked about is the Nikki Beach, where being counts down on the sand, there is a balloon drop for New York style, toast, party and fireworks display on the beach. The party starts at 8 pm on December 31 and ends at 5 am on 1 January.
New Year’s Eve can also be enjoyed on board a cruise, departing before lunch and return at two or three in the morning.
7. RIO DE JANEIRO
On the night of December 31, Copacabana Beach becomes the longest New year’s party in the world, is one of the best known of the world (even manages to overcome the Carnival), and it brings together more than two million people. Also known as Reveillon, it has live music, dancing, fireworks and offerings to the goddess Yemanja.
The New Year’s Eve party in Rio is synonymous with magic and color, although one of the curiosities is that most of the locals go dressed in white: for they year-end is a good time to renew and leave the past behind, and the best way is to wear white to bring peace to the new year.
During the days before New Year’s Eve, the city fills slowly, and on the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema it is becoming more difficult to walk. Hotels, terraces, restaurants Avenida Atlantica Copacabana dress of lights and prepare for a special and unique night.
The highlight of the evening is 12 o’clock, and as you approach the moment, Copacabana is becoming a giant party. Seconds before the famous countdown begins … and finally the most awaited moment, the fireworks begin along the 4 kilometers of beach, the most intense moment of the night and waited.

The year-end holidays are celebrated in style by the British, becoming the most famous in Europe for his eccentricity. Parades, music, theater and circus shows … Nothing is too much to celebrate the most memorable times of the year.
One of the biggest attractions is there on New Years Eve to watch the fireworks from one of the banks of the Thames or from one of the various high points in London. It is a spectacular fireworks display that takes place next to the London Eye just after ringing the bell end of the year in the Big Ben.
The event attracts a lot of people around the world, and therefore must be prepared to spend a few hours up and get well in advance. You must take into account that since 2014, in some areas charge admission. Other alternatives are restaurants with views and the highest points in London (Primrose Hill, Parliament Hill, Alexandra Palace and Cannon Hill, next to Bank), from which you can see the London Eye, the latter being preferred by Londoners.
And the last alternative that I propose is to enjoy the show on a cruise on the Thames, which also includes the New Year’s Eve … a round time!
9. EDINBURGH:
After Christmas, Edinburgh is preparing to host one of the more special celebrations: «Hogmanay», a charming Celtic festival celebrations which begin before the night of December 31 extending for four days that events such as concerts, festivals, torchlight processions, parties and gymkhanas at street level, as well as a host of activities in which both new and ancient traditions unfold cortumbres distributed.
The festival begins with a massive parade of torches (Torchlight Procession), in which about 30,000 people walk the Royal Mile led by a group of bagpipers climb up Calton Hill, where a fireworks display puts the finishing touches on the Party: the Midnight Moment, in which both Edinburgh Castle and Calton Hill illuminate the entire city with its pyrotechnics.
- Scotts call The Bells the last time of the year between Old and New Year. A few minutes earlier, they hold hands (folding his arms across his chest and a circle with others) and sing Auld Lang Syne, inspired by a poem by Robert Burns. This tradition is also kept in other English-speaking countries.
