Buenos lunes!!

Esta semana os traigo una de las atracciones más adrenalínicas e instagrammeables de los últimos tiempos… se trata del swing, un columpio gigante asomado a paisajes de ensueño, en ocasiones con alturas más que considerables, y que permiten tener una perspectiva única y memorable de los destinos a los que viajamos. El mundo está llenos de ellos y algunos son realmente espectaculares, (al menos para una enamorada de las vistas y de las alturas como yo), así que no me podía resistir a hablaros de ellos! Más adelante me gustaría hacer un follow up con columpios sobre el mar, pero esta semana…

5 increíbles swings para disfrutar vuestros destinos desde las alturas  

 

1. Giant Canyon Swing, en el Cañón del Colorado

Forma parte de las diez atracciones más escalofriantes del Mundo y llega a alcanzar los 80 kms./hora en el balanceo. Se encuentra en pleno Parque Glenwood Caverns, en Colorado, y se sitúa a unos 400 metros de altura sobre el río del cañón por lo que ofrece una de las vistas más privilegiadas del Cañón del Colorado. El columpio tiene capacidad para 4 personas y subir a él está incluido en el precio de la entrada al parque (54 dólares), aunque no todo el mundo se atreve a probarlo, y mucho menos cuando antes de subir te hacen firmar un documento donde ellos se liberan de responsabilidades…

 

2. Bali Swing, Ubud

Estos impresionantes columpios, cuyo nombre original es Uma Pakel Swing, se elevan sobre las exuberantes terrazas de Tegalalang, uno de los principales iconos de Bali por sus perfectos arrozales. La entrada al complejo asciende a unas 25.000IDR e incluye disfrutar de bebidas no alcohólicas en una agradable zona de asientos mirando hacia los columpios, pero si queréis subir a ellos el precio es aparte y son unos 23€ (con un uso ilimitado de los tres columpios y de un enorme nido suspendido de los árboles). Los tres columpios varían de altura (siendo el número 3 el más alto de todos que requiere llevar un arnés) y permiten mecerse en mitad de la selva. 3. Mirador de Turí, Ecuador

Turi, del vocablo indígena «kuri», significa “oro“, y me parece un nombre muy adecuado para definir las alucinantes vistas de este mirador. Para acceder a él se puede hacer una exigente caminata y subir unos 440 escalones o bien coger un bus desde el centro de Cuenca. Entrar al mirador cuesta 1 dólar, y por un coste adicional te puedes subir al columpio donde te lanzas desde una plataforma al abismo (a unos 2.700 metros de altura), rodeado de montañas y con la ciudad entera a tus pies.

 

4. La Casa del Árbol, Ecuador

También en Ecuador, a este columpio se le conoce como “el columpio del fin del Mundo“ y se encuentra suspendido sobre una empinada colina que casi parece un acantilado. Se creó con el objetivo de ser un observatorio de la actividad sísmica del volcán Tungurahua y forma parte de un pequeño parque. Subir a él se hace bajo tu propia responsabilidad y no está supervisado por nadie, aunque los guías que trabajan en el parque te ayudan a subir, te empujan para que puedas columpiarte e incluso se ofrecen a hacerte una foto si no viajas acompañado. Existen muchas agencias que ofrecen shuttles a la Casa del Árbol por unos 5 dólares a varias horas del día, se puede coger un bus por 2,5 dólares o bien se puede acceder andando por el sendero que parte desde Baños al Mirador de Bellavista Cloud Forest en una caminata que puede llegar a durar hasta 3 horas. Una vez allí, la entrada cuesta 2 dólares e incluye la subida a los tres columpios. Pero, siguiendo un sendero hacia el otro lado de la colina encontraréis otro columpio mucho más grande menos conocido y en el que se forman menos colas al que se sube pagando otro dólar.

 

En la zona norte de la isla de Bali, justo en los Lagos Gemelos Buyan y Tamblingan y con vistas a un antiguo cráter volcánico, encontramos este columpio a más de 1000 metros de altitud que colocaron los locales de un bar cercano a la carretera y que son los que se dedican a negociar el precio con los que quieran subirse a él. Los precios son bastante simbólicos (no suelen llegar a 1€), pero dependerá de vuestra capacidad negociadora!! Una vez subidos al columpio, las vistas son casi hipnóticas y la experiencia es muy relajante porque te permite mecerte casi sobre los lagos, así que no dejéis de visitarlo!

5 incredible swings to enjoy your destinations from the heights

 

1. Giant Canyon Swing, Colorado’s Canyon

It is part of the ten most chilling attractions in the world and reaches 80 kms./hour in the swing. In the middle of Glenwood Caverns Park, Colorado, it is located about 400 meters above the river of the canyon so it offers one of the most privileged views of the Canyon del Colorado. The swing has capacity for 4 people and climbing it is included in the price of the entrance to the park ($ 54), although not everyone dares to try it, much less when they come up to make you sign a document where they they are released from responsibilities …

 

2. Bali Swing, Ubud

These impressive swings, whose original name is Uma Pakel Swing, rise above the lush terraces of Tegalalang, one of the main icons of Bali for its perfect rice fields. The entrance to the complex amounts to about 25,000 IDR and includes enjoying non-alcoholic beverages in a nice seating area looking towards the swings, but if you want to go up there the price is separate and they are about € 23 (with an unlimited use of the three swings and a huge nest suspended from the trees). The three swings vary in height (the number 3 is the highest of all that requires a harness) and allow rocking in the middle of the jungle. 3. Turi Viewpoint, Ecuador

Turi, from the indigenous word «kuri», means «gold», and it seems to me a very suitable name to define the amazing views of this viewpoint. To access it you can do a demanding walk and climb about 440 steps or take a bus from the center of Cuenca. Entering the viewpoint costs 1 dollar, and for an additional cost you can climb the swing where you launch from a platform to the abyss (at about 2,700 meters high), surrounded by mountains and with the entire city at your feet.

 

4. The Tree House, Ecuador

Also in Ecuador, this swing is known as «the swing of the end of the World» and is suspended on a steep hill that almost looks like a cliff. It was created with the objective of being an observatory of the seismic activity of the Tungurahua volcano and is part of a small park. Climbing to it is done under your own responsibility and is not supervised by anyone, although the guides who work in the park help you climb, push you so you can swing and even offer to take a picture if you do not travel accompanied. There are many agencies that offer shuttles to the Tree House for about $ 5 at several hours a day, you can take a bus for $ 2.5 or can be accessed by walking the path from Baños to Bellavista Mirador Cloud Forest on a walk that can last up to 3 hours. Once there, the entrance costs 2 dollars and includes the climb to the three swings. But, following a path to the other side of the hill you will find another much larger swing less known and in which less lines are formed which is raised by paying another dollar.

 

In the northern area of the island of Bali, just in the Buyan and Tamblingan Twin Lakes and overlooking a former volcanic crater, we found this swing at more than 1000 meters altitude that placed the premises of a bar near the road and that They are those who are dedicated to negotiating the price with those who want to get on it. The prices are quite symbolic (they do not usually reach € 1), but it will depend on your negotiating skills !! Once up on the swing, the views are almost hypnotic and the experience is very relaxing because it allows you to rock almost over the lakes, so do not miss out!
