Creo que lo he debido decir unas cien veces desde que empecé este blog… Bali ha sido hasta el momento el viaje de mi vida y escribir sobre él me da siempre un poco de respeto… 😅. Ya me animé con el post de las Islas Gili, y hoy continúo con Jimbaran, un rincón encantador de esta isla impresionante llena de secretos y lugares por descubrir. 6 razones para enamorarse de Jimbaran
1. Muy cerquita del aeropuerto
Jimbaran tiene muchos alicientes, el primero es su ubicación: se encuentra a tan solo 20 minutos de distancia en taxi desde el Aeropuerto de Denpasar. Esto hizo que fuese nuestro gran candidato para pasar nuestros primeros días en Bali… y quieras que no es una responsabilidad! Siempre digo que lo primero que ves al llegar a un destino es clave: en este caso -afortunadamente- Jimbaran fue el mejor aperitivo para todas las aventuras que nos esperaban después.
2. Alrededores de ensueño
Pero no sólo era su cercanía al aeropuerto lo que nos atraía de ella: al encontrarse en la Península de Bukit, ésa con forma de lágrima que se desprende en el Sur de la isla, nos daba acceso a muchos puntos que teníamos muchas ganas de ver: Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Balangan, Canggu y sus playas alucinantes… lugares tan impresionantes que merecen por sí solos un próximo post (en muchos de ellos se escogieron localizaciones para rodar la peli Come, Reza, Ama, una de mis preferidas!) A esta península se la conoce como el mirador de Bali por tener muchas de sus zonas suspendidas en acantilados, de hecho Bukit significa colina y desde sus alturas se disfrutan unas vistas de ensueño. Si podéis, no desaprovechéis la oportunidad de hacer parapente en esta zona… es, junto con el lago del templo Pura Ulun Danau Bratan, de las mejores para hacerlo y sobrevolarla es una de las experiencias más impresionantes del Mundo, especialmente si se hace durante la puesta de sol. Si os parece todavía poco, os contaré un secreto: desde la parte más suroeste se llega a divisar la vecina isla de Java… simplemente alucinante.
3. El espectáculo nocturno de los restaurantes de pescadores y cenar a la luz de las velas
Jimbaran es una pequeña aldea de pescadores con una enorme playa en la que cada noche, cientos de mesas de madera invaden la arena y solo la luz incandescente de las velas -junto a la de la Luna- iluminan el ambiente. En ellas, los pequeños restaurantes de pescado sirven las capturas del día prácticamente en la orilla del mar: pescados y mariscos de los mejores que he probado nunca, acompañados de platos balineses y la brisa del mar… no se podía pedir más, bueno sí, disfrutar de una cena maravillosa en un enclave único con los pies descalzos sobre la arena. Y era sólo el primero de muchos momentazos y experiencias en el viaje. Veréis que hay muchos restaurantes para elegir, y todos se abarrotan, en nuestro caso cenamos en el Made Bagus Café y repetiríamos una y mil veces más!!! En serio, aunque no optéis por pasar noche en Jimbaran no podéis iros de Bali sin experimentar este momento mágico.
4. Rock Bar
El Rock Bar es uno de los bares más brutales que he visto nunca: es el bar del Hotel Ayana Resort, suspendido sobre la playa, y es uno de los musts de la isla para tomar algo a la puesta de sol. Como es uno de los más codiciados, no os arriesguéis a ir a la aventura: el hotel prioriza a sus clientes y es más que recomendable reservar con antelación para poder conseguir un sitio privilegiado, pero merece -y mucho- la pena. Es verdad que hay más sitios y a lo mejor incluso más accesibles y molones en las zonas cercanas (uno de mis preferidos, el Single Fin en Canggu, ya os daré todos los datos en su post…), pero al Rock Bar os diría que hay que ir sí o sí.
5. Cinco sitios muy molones
Esto no lo sabíamos antes de ir, pero los días que pasamos en Jimbaran hicimos grandes descubrimientos: lugares tan guays que nos faltaron días para repetir… cuando un sitio me gusta se me queda siempre corto el tiempo para disfrutarlo a tope! Este es mi top 5, todos imprescindibles y especiales a más no poder…
Sin dudarlo ni un segundo, os diría que es mi sitio preferido en Jimbaran. Lo encontramos casi por casualidad y nos enamoró nada más verlo, a pesar de estar situado a un lado de la carretera. Es tan bonito y tan especial que todo lo que pueda escribir aquí se quedaría corto. Bohemio, chic, con muchísima personalidad y con esencia 100% balinesa… la mejor palabra que lo definiría es encanto. Pero no sólo es estética, el ambiente es increíble y la comida… mmmm!! Todo tipo de platos típicos balineses entre los que no pude evitar pedirme -cómo no- el nasi goreng, delicioso! Como nos gustó tanto, lo visitamos varias veces y tampoco está nada mal para tomar un cocktail o una copa. En Jalan Raya Uluwatu 39.
Con una terraza tropical rodeada de vegetación y un café delicioso, este lugar semi escondido en una zona comercial de Jimbaran es un tesoro. Informal, exótico, con una cocina de altísima calidad y al mismo tiempo muy buenos precios, es una apuesta segura tanto para desayunar como para comer y cenar. Si lo elegís para desayunar, obligatorio pedirse el breakfast bowl, con grano, yogur, semillas de chía y compota, inolvidable! En Jl. Karang Mas.
Próximo a la playa de Balangan, este café- warung tan cozy es bonito, original, acogedor y cool. Combina la cocina local con comida internacional, buenas hamburguesas y cervezas, y las raciones son bastante grandes para los precios que tiene. Siempre tenía buena música y respiraba muy buen rollo. En Jalan Pantai Balangan.
Sus desayunos saludables son famosos en la zona, y sus batidos y yogures merecen una mención especial. Si buscáis sitio para daros un homenaje healthy por la mañana a buenos precios, este es vuestro lugar. Su zona de cafetería era muy agradable y siempre estaba animada, por lo que solía ser nuestro centro de operaciones para empezar en día y conectarnos a Internet. En Jalan Pantai Balangan.
Un bar de tapas en Bali? Pues si, como lo oís… Cuca es un bar de tapas super elaboradas en el que el dueño, casado con una salmantina, sirve un menú degustación de 10 platos en los que se intercala cocina indonesia y mediterránea, aunque si os pedís los platos sueltos tampoco está nada mal… además tienen muy buenos cocktails que sirven en su Cocktail Bar. Lo mejor es su ambiente y la Food Bar, una barra frente a la cocina abierta, para ver cómo preparan los platos. En Jalan Yoga Perkanthi.
6. Y tres hoteles maravillosos
Lo de los hoteles en Bali es un tema aparte… no he visto hoteles en el mundo más bonitos, detallistas y cuidados, y yo creo que también influyeron mucho a la hora de hacer este viaje tan especial. Tuvimos la gran suerte de alojarnos en un hotel maravilloso en Jimbaran, pero pienso que es difícil dar con malos hoteles en la isla -obviando claro los hostales hipermercados mega baratos-.
Es difícil quedarse con solo tres hoteles en esta zona, de hecho es un área en la que se concentran grandes resorts de lujo como el Intercontinental, Le Meridien o el Ayana Resort, pero he pensado en estos tres alojamientos con encanto… espero que os gusten!
Balquisse Heritage Hotel
A muy pocos minutos a pie de la playa, este hotel de estilo vintage es un oasis de tranquilidad y relax donde desconectar y disfrutar con los 5 sentidos. Me encanta su diseño y su decoración boho y natural, sus jardines paradisiacos, la piscina, el spa… y el precio me parece bastante interesante para ser un cuatro estrellas: unos 100€ la noche.
Kupu Kupu Jimbaran
Fue nuestro hotel durante nuestra estancia en Jimbaran y fue simplemente maravilloso. No estaba en la playa, pero había un servicio de traslado continuo en buggy a todas horas y te dejaban en su Beach club, con una ubicación privilegiada frente al mar. El hotel tenía una piscina super moderna y cada tarde venían a traerte a la habitación unos deliciosos snacks antes de la hora de la cena. Nuestra habitación, un increíble bungalow de 2 plantas, tenía una bañera enorme en mitad de la zona de estar, y el spa (de Occitane) era un templo del lujo. En definitiva, lo recomendaría totalmente. Los precios empiezan en los 100€ la noche.
Keraton Jimbaran Beach Resort
Con salida directa a la playa, este cómodo hotel de 4 estrellas destaca por sus villas con piscina privada y sus tres restaurantes. Está rodeado de jardines con gazebos y farolillos que se encienden por la noche, y si no fuera porque Jimbaran es tan interesante darían ganas de quedarse aquí y no salir nunca! A partir de 70€ la noche.

6 reasons to fall in love with Jimbaran
1. Very close to the airport
Jimbaran has many attractions, the first is its location: it is only 20 minutes away by taxi from Denpasar Airport. This made it our great candidate to spend our first days in Bali … and want that is not a responsibility! I always say that the first thing you see when you arrive at a destination is key: in this case – fortunately – Jimbaran was the best appetizer for all the adventures that awaited us later.
2. Dream surroundings
But it was not only its proximity to the airport that attracted us to it: to be in the Bukit Peninsula, that teardrop shape that emerges in the south of the island, gave us access to many points that we really wanted to see : Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Balangan, Canggu and its amazing beaches … places so impressive that they deserve an upcoming post on their own (in many of them locations were chosen to shoot the movie Eat, Pray, Love, one of my favorites! ) This peninsula is known as the viewpoint of Bali for having many of its areas suspended in cliffs, in fact Bukit means hill and from its heights you can enjoy dreamlike views. If you can, do not miss the opportunity to paraglide in this area … it is, together with the Pura Ulun Danau Bratan temple lake, of the best to do it and fly over it is one of the most impressive experiences in the world, especially if it is done during the sunset. If you still think so little, I’ll tell you a secret: from the southwest you can see the neighboring island of Java … simply amazing.
3. The nightly show of the fishermen’s restaurants and dine by candlelight
Jimbaran is a small fishing village with a huge beach where every night, hundreds of wooden tables invade the sand and only the incandescent light of the candles – together with that of the Moon – illuminate the atmosphere. In them, the small fish restaurants serve the catch of the day practically on the seashore: fish and seafood of the best I’ve ever tasted, accompanied by Balinese dishes and the sea breeze … you could not ask for more, well Yes, enjoy a wonderful dinner in a unique enclave with bare feet on the sand. And it was only the first of many momentazos and experiences on the trip. You will see that there are many restaurants to choose from, and they all get crammed, in our case we dined at the Made Bagus Café and we would repeat one and a thousand times more! Seriously, even if you do not choose to spend the night in Jimbaran, you can not leave Bali without experiencing this magical moment.
4. Rock Bar
The Rock Bar is one of the most amazing bars I have ever seen: it is the bar of the Ayana Resort Hotel, suspended on the beach, and it is one of the musts of the island to have a drink at sunset. As it is one of the most sought-after, do not risk to go to the adventure: the hotel prioritizes its customers and it is more than advisable to book in advance to get a privileged site, but it deserves -and much- worth it. It is true that there are more places and maybe even more accessible and cool in the near areas (one of my favorites, the Single Fin Bar, in Canggu, I’ll give you all the information in next posts …), but you have definitely to go.
5. Five cool places to go
We did not know before we went, but the days we spent in Jimbaran made great discoveries: places so cool that we had days to repeat … when a place I like, I always have a short time to enjoy it to the fullest! This is my top 5…
Without hesitation, I would say that this is my favorite place in Jimbaran. We found it almost by chance and we fell in love just seeing it, despite being located on the side of the road. It’s so beautiful and so special that everything I can write here would fall short. Bohemian, chic, with a lot of personality and with 100% Balinese essence … the best word that would define it is charm. But it’s not only aesthetic, the atmosphere is incredible and the food … mmmm! All kinds of typical Balinese dishes, among which I could not help but ask – of course – the nasi goreng, delicious! As we liked it so much, we visited it several times and it’s not bad for a cocktail or a drink. In Jalan Raya Uluwatu 39.
With a tropical terrace surrounded by greenery and a delicious coffee, this semi-hidden place in a commercial area of Jimbaran is a treasure. Informal, exotic, with a kitchen of the highest quality and at the same time very good prices, it is a safe bet both for breakfast and for lunch and dinner. If you choose to have breakfast, you must order the breakfast bowl, with grain, yogurt, chia seeds and compote, unforgettable! In Jl. Karang Mas.
Next to Balangan beach, this cozy coffee-warung is nice, original and cool. It combines the local cuisine with international food, good burgers and beers, and the portions are quite large for the prices you have. He always had good music and breathed very good vibes. In Jalan Pantai Balangan.
Their healthy breakfasts are famous in the area, and their smoothies and yogurts deserve special mention. If you are looking for a place to give a healthy homage in the morning at good prices, this is your place. Its cafeteria area was very nice and always lively, so it used to be our operations center to start in the day and connect to the Internet. In Jalan Pantai Balangan.
A tapas bar in Bali? Well yes, as you hear … Cuca is a bar of super elaborate tapas in which the owner, married to a Salamanca, serves a tasting menu of 10 dishes in which Indonesian and Mediterranean cuisine is interspersed, although if you ask Dishes are not bad either … they also have very good cocktails that they serve in their Cocktail Bar. The best thing is their atmosphere and the Food Bar, a bar in front of the open kitchen, to see how they prepare the dishes. In Jalan Yoga Perkanthi.
6. And three wonderful hotels
The hotels in Bali is a separate issue … I have not seen hotels in the world more beautiful, detailed and careful, and I think they also influenced a lot when making this trip so special. We had the good fortune to stay in a wonderful hotel in Jimbaran, but I think it is difficult to find bad hotels on the island -obviously the cheap mega hyper hostels-.
It is difficult to stay with only three hotels in this area, in fact it is an area where large luxury resorts such as the Intercontinental, Le Meridien or the Ayana Resort are concentrated, but I have thought of these three charming accommodations. .. I hope you like them!
Balquisse Heritage Hotel
A few minutes walk from the beach, this vintage-style hotel is an oasis of tranquility and relaxation where you can unwind and enjoy the 5 senses. I love its boho design and natural decoration, its paradisiacal gardens, the pool, the spa … and the price seems quite interesting for me to be a four star: about € 100 a night.
Kupu Kupu Jimbaran
It was our hotel during our stay in Jimbaran and it was simply wonderful. It was not on the beach, but there was a shuttle service in buggy at all hours and they left you at your Beach club, with a privileged location facing the sea. The hotel had a super modern pool and every afternoon they came to bring you some delicious snacks before dinner time. Our room, an amazing 2-story bungalow, had a huge bathtub in the middle of the living area, and the spa (of Occitane) was a temple of luxury. In short, I would recommend it totally. Prices start at € 100 a night.
Keraton Jimbaran Beach Resort
With direct access to a private area of the beach, this comfortable 4-star hotel stands out for its villas with private pool and its three restaurants. It is surrounded by gardens with gazebos and lanterns that light up at night, and if it were not for Jimbaran is so interesting would want to stay here and never leave! From € 70 per night.
