Good morning everybody! Esta semana inauguramos sección: Eco!!
Me apetecía escribir sobre una filosofía que afortunadamente parece estar ya dejando de ser una moda para quedarse, y que por suerte podemos practicar cada vez mas en la ciudad, la “Eco Healthy Life“… pero esta manera de vivir y ver las cosas trasciende a todos los aspectos de la vida cotidiana, desde la alimentación hasta el consumo, y era imposible tratarlo sin hacer una fusión de muchos de los contenidos que solemos tocar por separado en los distintos apartados del blog…
Últimamente, cada vez que hago un viaje o una escapadita, me intereso mucho por investigar las opciones que cada destino ofrece en este ámbito… y la verdad es que las cosas que voy encontrando me encantan! Así que, si os interesa, las puedo ir compartiendo con vosotros por aquí proponiendo algunas rutas “eco“ en cada ciudad.
Y es que estamos cambiando, yo creo que para mejor: queremos disfrutar más del presente, estamos buscando una nueva manera de vivir y trabajar más sostenible, somos más conscientes de lo que nos rodea y apostamos más que nunca por cuidarnos. Todo esto no solo nos está cambiando internamente, sino que también está revolucionando y transformando nuestro entorno y las ciudades en las que vivimos… desde el gran boom de la restauración (bio, orgánica, vegana, raw…), los nuevos mercados y huertos urbanos… hasta tiendas, hoteles, servicios o actividades. Y no es algo aislado, el Mundo entero apuesta por ello: New York, Copenhague, Sudáfrica… parece que todos nos hemos puesto de acuerdo y que todo nos lleva inevitablemente a evolucionar de esta manera. Una Ruta Eco por Madrid
En bici por Madrid
Aunque caminar para mí es siempre la mejor opción, la ruta de hoy nos va a llevar a sitios muy diferentes de la ciudad… nada mejor que poder recorrerla en bici!
BiciMad es un servicio del Ayuntamiento de Madrid con puntos de recogida estratégicos por toda la ciudad y es una forma fácil, cómoda y económica de moverse. Y de paso contribuimos un poco al cuidado de nuestro medio ambiente, que buena falta hace. Así que no os lo penséis, acercaros a la estación más cercana porque empezamos a pedalear!!!
Cafes, desayunos y panes artesanales
1. Pum Pum Café, Calle del Tribulete 6
But first coffee… mi lema! Podemos iniciar nuestro recorrido visitando Pum Pum Café, en el barrio de Lavapiés, para deleitarnos con su espectacular café de filtro e incluso con suerte participar en alguna de sus catas de granos de café de diferentes orígenes del Mundo. Encargan el tueste del café a pequeños tostaderos españoles, fomentando el negocio local, y traen a diario la leche fresca de la Sierra de Madrid. Ellos mismos elaboran la bollería que venden usando las recetas de la familia, y también tienen pan de Madre Hizo Pan. Aunque nuestra parada es sobre todo para desayunar, su cocina vegana y vegetariana está siempre abierta, tienen brunch “sin horario“ y destacan en la carta sus tostas y ensaladas. Además, el lugar tiene mucho encanto con sus paredes de ladrillo visto y mobiliario reciclado que recuerda al de cuando íbamos al cole…
2. Leon The Baker, Calle Conde Duque 19
Esta panadería – que también tiene un puesto en el Kiki Market, el mercado que os comento un poco más abajo-, abrió por primera vez sus puertas en 2014 en Londres y está en Madrid desde Septiembre de 2016. Su obrador fabrica pan 100% sin gluten y sin lactosa con sello ecológico. Su máxima es conseguir el sabor de siempre sin aditivos, colorantes o conservantes artificiales, y además hacerlo accesible a todo tipo de personas, ajustando todo lo posible los precios. Aquí se pueden comprar hogazas, todo tipo de panes, muffins, y hasta un mix de harinas para hacer tu propio pan en casa… y si no os apetece desplazaros también tienen tienda online.
3. AbonaVida, Calle de las Navas de Tolosa 3
Abonavida es una cafetería – restaurante -tienda situada en pleno centro de Madrid y ofrece productos ecológicos y de comercio justo. Para desayunar, tienen tostadas con tahín y miel o sirope de agave con café, té o zumo por 2,90€, todo tipo de alternativas a la leche y al azúcar, y con el extra del wifi gratis 😉 Pero también es un sitio agradable para ir a comer, sus menús son variados y caseros y tienen la opción de elegir entre menú completo y plato del día a precios competitivos. Además, el establecimiento incorpora una tienda donde poder comprar tanto comida como cosmética natural, así como una gran sala para eventos, talleres o clases de yoga.
4. Ruda Cafe, Calle de la Ruda 11
Nos movemos al característico barrio de La Latina para visitar Ruda, una pequeña cafetería con mucho encanto que bien podríamos encontrarnos en cualquier barrio de moda de Nueva York. Sencillo, estrecho y pequeño, su local con paredes de ladrillo visto y paredes de madera crean una atmósfera íntima y acogedora que predispone a disfrutar de su café 100% arábica y sus galletas de mantequilla hechas artesanalmente. Se definen a sí mismos como “café de altura“ y a pesar de su espíritu de negocio de barrio apuestan 100% por la calidad.
De mercados
1. Pepita & Grano, Calle Santa Engracia 77
Pepita & Grano es una tienda donde comprar a granel como se ha hecho toda la vida con un espíritu totalmente contrario al del supermercado: intentando recuperar las costumbres del pasado y con un fuerte componente ecológico y de sostenibilidad. A modo de autoservicio, podréis seleccionar todo tipo de productos (hasta algas y cus cús) tanto nacionales como internacionales. Todo en un espacio moderno y luminoso en el que los productos se exponen en baldas de madera. Y como plus, al final del establecimiento, hay un escritorio con recetas para coger ideas para preparar todos estos productos en tu casa.
2. Organic Market & Food, Calle Serrano 240
Madrid ya cuenta con su propio multiespacio green y toda su oferta está orientada a la búsqueda de una alimentación más sana y natural. Tras abrir el primer espacio en Marbella, el grupo abrió sus puertas también aquí bajo la torre de oficinas de Serrano 240. Su primera planta está dedicada a la venta de productos orgánicos, la segunda al restaurante con una bonita terraza, música en directo y zona de lectura, y además tiene un espacio polivalente para workshops, talleres o clases de yoga o tal chi.
3. Kiki Market, Travesía de San Mateo 4 y Calle de la Cava Alta 21
Este colmado de productos orgánicos invita ya desde fuera a entrar y curiosear por su encanto característico. Se trata de una de las primeras tiendas especializadas en productos orgánicos de la capital en la que comprar prácticamente de todo: desde frutas y verduras hasta lo último en superfoods, además de contar con su propio restaurante Kiki Deli en la planta baja para degustar recetas caseras veganas, vegetarianas y flexitarianas, todas ellas aptas para celiacos. Un lugar completo y muy cuidado que logrará trasladaros a las tiendas de comestibles del pasado.
4. El Huerto de Lucas, Calle San Lucas 13
Y para terminar con nuestra ruta por los mercados, El Huerto de Lucas es un concepto híbrido entre mercado y cantina con diferentes puestos rodeando un patio de mesas para poder comer o tomar café. Está en el barrio de Chueca y en él todo es 100% ecológico y libre de pesticidas. Me encanta porque parece un rincón secreto por descubrir y por la luminosidad de su patio, ideal para pasar el rato leyendo inmersos en medio del ajetreo de los puestos de alrededor.
Cursos de cocina ecológica
1. La Magdalena de Proust, Calle Regueros 8
Si os apetece aprender a hacer vuestro propio pan ecológico en casa con masa madre, o en recetas de cocina sanas para deportistas, o incluso en un plan detox para este otoño, en La Magdalena de Proust tienen este tipo de cursillos de unas 3 horas aproximadamente para que os quedéis con todos los trucos y recetas.

Un local pequeño, que al entrar es una cafetería donde degustar desayunos y productos bio, postres y tartas o el menú del día… adentrándonos un poco más encontramos la pequeña beauty boutique con productos de cosmética natural y la BIOuty room para hacerse tratamientos de belleza 100% eco. Una experiencia completa y entretenida.
3. Espacio Eco, Plaza Pedro Zerolo 1
Espacio Eco apuesta por los productos ecológicos, respetuosos con el medio ambiente y también con el cabello: todos ellos son sin parabenos y libres de químicos. Ofrecen un espacio específico para mujeres: melena shop, y otro para hombres: barba shop, y tienen un completo menú de servicios, desde barbería hasta manicura y pedicura pasando por belleza, bienestar y peluquería.
Slow Shopping
1. Trendy & Green, Calle Apodaca 8
En Trendy & Green opinan que “la vida sostenible es para los valientes“, y en su tienda encontramos prendas multimarca basadas en la corriente del Slow Fashion: ropa amigable con el medio ambiente sin renunciar a la estética ni a la moda. Que minimiza la huella en nuestro planeta y no maltrata animales en su fabricación. Daros una vuelta por su local en pleno barrio de Malasaña para descubrir sus tesoros!
2. The Circular Project Shop, Calle Ventura Rodriguez 22
The Circular Project surge con la misión de “devolver a la naturaleza lo que le cogemos prestado“ y fomentar/ promover la moda sostenible. Su nombre alude a la economía circular y en su tienda hay espacio para 26 diseñadores españoles que trabajan con tejidos orgánicos, complementos o calzados comprometidos, o marcas que fusionan arte y moda. Podréis encontrarla en el barrio de Arguelles, en la calle Ventura Rodríguez.
Healthy food
1. Superchulo, Calle Manuela Malasaña 11
La creadora de este nuevo restaurante en la capital ideó el concepto tras pasar por algún desorden alimenticio, lo que le hizo interesarse cada vez más por la comida saludable y, junto con su pareja, un chef argentino, decidieron abrir las puertas de Superchulo. En sus recetas no hay ni químicos ni aditivos, no usan freidoras ni microondas, y sus platos son vegetales, pastas, pizzas de masa madre totalmente hechos por ellos, destacando su plato estrella: el Green Bao. Además, en el sótano, han abierto La Caverna Cocktail Bar by Superchulo, donde poder tomar algo también bajo el eje de lo ecológico.
2. Vega, Calle de la Luna 9
Situado junto a la Plaza de Callao, en la Plaza de la Luna, Vega es un bar restaurante cargado de filosofía y conciencia sostenible. Trabajan con productos totalmente locales y apuestan por la proximidad, hasta sus vinos y cervezas son ecológicos y el mobiliario reciclado perteneció en el pasado a familiares y amigos de los dueños. Buen ambiente, cocina casera y todo fresco preparado al momento. Si vais, no olvidéis probar su falafell casero o el crumble casero de manzana!!!
3. Mandioca, Calle San Bernardo 120
Aunque puede que este establecimiento no esté etiquetado como 100% Eco, la comida healthy brasileña y la intención de inculcar hábitos saludables son los grandes ejes de su carta. Todos los días preparan un plato distinto para las comidas e incluso elaboran su propio pan casero con naranja o bizcochos ecológicos, pero si vamos con prisas y no nos podemos quedar a comer también te ofrecen un servicio de take away para que te lleves la comida más sana a casa o al trabajo… Pequeño, acogedor y sobre todo buenísimo para los que quieran cuidarse.
4. Nest Organic, Calle General Perón 38
En Nest, todos los productos con los que se cocina son orgánicos. Se abastecen de su propio huerto de Campillo de Altobuey en Cuenca, no sirven azúcar sino stevia como endulzante, y su máxima es que los clientes disfruten de unos platos equilibrados preparados con alimentos ecológicos. Sin olvidar las recetas tradicionales y de cuchara… son famosas sus lentejas o sus cocidos, y hasta en la decoración se han utilizado materiales naturales y pinturas ecológicas. Todo un oasis natural en mitad del gran centro de negocios de la ciudad: Azca.
Eco Sleeping
1. The Hat, Calle Imperial 9
Dicen de él que es “un hostel para viajeros inteligentes“, y es que este innovador albergue del centro de Madrid es el primero en utilizar la biomasa como fuente de energía. Totalmente eficiente en el consumo de agua, controla el gasto energético y apenas utiliza papel, pero al mismo tiempo ofrece todas las comodidades de un hotel: utiliza tecnología NFC que permite abrir las habitaciones desde el móvil, ofrece la posibilidad de alquilar tablets o incluso bicis a sus clientes… Además de contar con una terraza privilegiada desde la cual disfrutar de las puestas de sol de la capital. Todo a partir de 60€ la noche.
2. Hotel Artiem, Calle Juan Perez Zuñiga 20
Un hotel Urban Green construido a partir de la filosofía del bienestar y de la sostenibilidad: optimiza la eficiencia energética, minimiza el gasto de agua y de residuos y fomenta la vida sana y saludable entre sus clientes. Cuenta con un gimnasio de última tecnología, personal trainer, un “stretching área“ para estiramientos y meditación, un “chill out córner“ para trabajar de manera relajada y dos espacios gastronómicos: Slow Lounge y The Green, donde poder degustar productos frescos y sanos. The truth is that I wanted to write about a philosophy that fortunately seems to be no longer a mere fashion to stay, and luckily we can practice more and more in the city, «Eco Healthy Life» … but this way living and seeing things transcends all aspects of daily life, from food to consumption, and it was impossible to treat it without making a fusion of many of the contents that we usually play separately in the different sections of the blog…
In addition, lately, every time that I make a trip or escape, I am very interested in investigating the options that each destination offers to launch this philosophy … and the things that I find I love! So I thought that, if you are interested, I can share with you around here proposing some «eco» routes in each city.
We are changing for the better: we want to enjoy more of the present moment, we are looking for a new way to live and work more sustainable, we are more aware of what surrounds us and we bet more than ever to take care of ourselves. All this is not only changing us internally, it is also revolutionizing and transforming our environment and our cities … from the great boom of restoration (bio, organic, vegan, raw …), new markets and urban gardens … to shops, hotels, services or activities. And it is not something isolated, the whole World bets on it: New York, Copenhagen, South Africa … it seems that we have all agreed that it is what we want, and that everything inevitably leads us to evolve in this way. An Eco Route in Madrid
Madrid by bike
Although walking for me is always the best option, today’s route will take us to very different places in the city … nothing better than being able to do it by bike!
BiciMad is a service of the City of Madrid with strategic collection points throughout the city and is an easy, comfortable and economic way of moving. And by the way we contribute a bit to the care of our environment, what a good lack it does. So do not think about it, get closer to the station and start pedaling !!!
Cafes, breakfasts and homemade breads
1. Pum Pum Cafe, Tribulete St. 6
But first coffee… my motto! We can start our tour visiting Pum Pum Café, in the district of Lavapies, to delight us with his spectacular filter coffee and even with luck to participate in some of his tastings of coffee beans from different origins of the world. They entrust the roasting of the coffee to small Spanish toastaderos, fomentando the local business, and they bring daily the fresh milk of the mountain range of Madrid. They make the pastry they sell using family recipes, and they also sell bread from Madre Hizo Pan. Although our stop is more for breakfast, their vegan and vegetarian cuisine is always open, they have brunch «no timetable» and stand out in the letter your toasts and salads. In addition, the place has a lot of charm with its exposed brick walls and recycled furniture reminiscent of when we went to school.
2. Leon The Baker, Conde Duque St. 19
This bakery – which also has a booth in the Kiki Market, the market that tells you a little further down – first opened its doors in 2014 in London and is in Madrid since September 2016. Its maker manufactures 100% gluten and lactose free with eco-label. Its maxim is to always get the flavor without artificial additives, dyes or preservatives, and also make it accessible to all types of people, adjusting prices as much as possible. Here you can buy loaves, all kinds of breads, muffins, and even a mix of flours to make your own bread at home … and if you do not feel like moving, they also have online store.
3. AbonaVida, Navas de Tolosa St. 3
Abonavida is a cafeteria – restaurant – store located in the heart of Madrid and offers ecological and fair trade products. For breakfast, they have toast with tahín and honey or agave syrup with coffee, tea or juice for € 2.90, all kinds of alternatives to milk and sugar, and with the extra free wifi;) But it is also a site nice to go to eat, their menus are varied and homemade and have the option to choose between full menu and daily dish at competitive prices. Madrid already has its own green multi-space and all its offer is oriented to the search for a healthier and more natural diet. After opening the first space in Marbella, the group also opened here under the office tower of Serrano 240. Its first floor is dedicated to the sale of organic products, the second to the restaurant with a nice terrace, live music and area of reading, and also has a multipurpose space for workshops, workshops or classes of yoga or tal chi.

I love it because it seems like a secret corner to discover and the luminosity of its patio, ideal to spend time reading immersed in the middle of the market bustle.

They have a specific space for women: melena shop, and another for men: beard shop, and has a complete menu of services, from barbershop to manicure and pedicure through beauty, wellness and hairdressing.

At Trendy & Green say that «sustainable life is for the brave», and in their store we find multi-brand garments based on the flow of Slow Fashion: clothing friendly to the environment without giving up aesthetics or fashion. It minimizes the footprint on our planet and does not mistreat animals in its manufacture. Take a tour to Malasaña neighborhood to launch their philosophy!

In this establishment, all the products that are cooked are organic. They supply from their own orchard of Campillo de Altobuey in Cuenca, they do not serve sugar but stevia as sweetener, and its maximum is that the customers enjoy balanced dishes prepared with ecological food. Not forgetting the traditional recipes and spoon … are famous lentils or their cooked, and even in the decoration have been used natural materials and ecological paintings.
