Puede que Lisboa no aparezca en el top de ciudades del Mundo como destino de compras: New York, Londres, Milán… son siempre las referencias. Pero hay algo en las tiendas de Lisboa que atrae por su personalidad única, y planear una ruta de shopping por esta ciudad es otra manera de descubrir su encanto y autenticidad. Esta semana os propongo…

La esencia de Lisboa en 10 tiendas

 

1 y 2.  A través de la lectura – Librería Bertrand y Under The Cover

En Lisboa tienen una fuerte predilección por la literatura, y puede que por eso en esta ciudad se encuentren librerías muy especiales… buscar tesoros antiguos entre sus estanterías puede ser un plan perfecto para animar un tarde aburrida, especialmente si visitamos la Librería Bertrand, abierta desde el año 1732 en el barrio de Chiado, en la rua Garrett 73. Este lugar, con el récord Guinnes a la librería más antigua del Mundo aún abierta, fue lugar habitual de encuentro de las grandes figuras literarias locales e Internacionales y hoy en día es un must para amantes de la literatura. Actualmente, esta librería – en realidad cadena de librerías- ha sido comprada por La Casa del Libro pero la original es la de la rua Garrett, justo al lado del Café A Brasileira.

Siguiendo con la lectura, otra tienda curiosa es Under the Cover, en el barrio de São Sebastião y muy cercana a la Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. En ella venden revistas internacionales de todo tipo y de todo el Mundo, sobre todo ese tipo de revistas que parecen casi libros en las que se cuida especialmente el diseño y la fotografía… y se encuentran verdaderas curiosidades como guías de restaurantes olvidados de los trabajadores de Estambul, la revista Saji japonesa en la que se destaca la importancia de la alimentación en el país nipón o Delayed Gratification, la primera revista del “periodismo slow”. En rua Marquês Sá da Bandeira, 88B.

 

 

3.  “Pescado en una galería de arte“ – Loja das Conservas

Si estáis buscando un souvenir curioso de esta ciudad loca por el marisco y las conservas, la Loja das Conservas es vuestra tienda. Sus propietarios resumen su esencia como “Pescado a la venta en una galería de arte“ y cuenta con una selección única de latas de atún, pulpo o sardinas envasadas en latas con diseños antiguos y vintage. La tienda en sí misma es una maravilla y merece la pena solo verla y disfrutar de su “exposición“. En rua do Arenal, 130. 

 

 

4. El centro de la cultura alternativa y bohemia de Lisboa – LX Factory

En el barrio de Alcantara, cerca del Puente 25 de Abril y alejado del turisteo en una zona que en el pasado fue un área industrial, hoy en día existe un edificio en una vieja fábrica con muros de ladrillo y murales de arte callejero lleno de tiendas y concept stores donde encontrar muebles, objetos de diseño, piezas de arte… únicos y muy originales: LX Factory. Lo mejor es visitarlo los Domingos, que es cuando se organiza un mercadillo en el que los jóvenes diseñadores exponen sus obras, y es un lugar habitual para tomar el brunch. Podéis visitar su librería cool  Ler Devagar famosa por su icónica bicicleta colgada del techo y tomar algo en su cafetería, ir al Wish Concept Store para encontrar algún objeto de decoración bonito, o comer en La Cantina, el antiguo comedor de los trabajadores de las fábricas de la zona y comer en sus mesas compartidas o en su agradable patio en verano, o en la preciosa Taberna 1300 con su espectacular comedor de estilo industrial.

También podréis encontrar el famoso Boox en la tienda del mismo nombre, un objeto creado por el portugués Pedro Alburquerque best seller en una de las tiendas online de diseño más conocidas de Europa: una caja de metacrilato transparente diseñada para exhibir páginas de libros o revistas… muy original! En rua Rodrigues de Faria, 103.

 

 

La mayoría de los objetos que han formado – y siguen formando- parte de la historia lusa: la cerámica de Bordalo Pinheiro, la pasta de dientes Couto, los lápices Viarco, el limpia metales Coraçao, las zapatillas de Sancho y Lona, la crema de manos Benámor, o hasta los famosos jabones Claus Porto y Ach Brito de los cuales hasta la mismísima Oprah Winfrey se ha declarado fan incondicional… pueden encontrarse en estas populares – y originales- tiendas del Chiado y en el Mercado da Ribera. Pero si queréis disfrutar de la que –según Time Out– es la más bonita de la ciudad, no os podéis perder una de sus últimas aperturas en Intendente, en la antigua fábrica de cerámicas Viúva Lamego. Frecuentadas tanto por locales como por turistas que quieren llevarse de vuelta a casa un trocito de Portugal, son una manera ideal de conocer la historia y las tradiciones de este maravilloso país.

 

 

 

6. Gafas de sol al alcance de todos – Fora Sunglasses

Esta marca de gafas portuguesa exhibe creaciones de jóvenes diseñadores portugueses comprometidos con la idea de ofrecer modelos asequibles y cool inspirados en los clásicos, todos por menos de 150€. Ideal para quienes van buscando unas gafas únicas y auténticas sin dejarse un dineral. En Avenida Alvares Cabral, 28A.

 

 

Portugal es el primer exportador de corcho en el mundo, y para dar buena muestra de ello, la tienda Pelcor Store elabora objetos inimaginables con este material: como su icónico paraguas, gadgets tecnológicos, bolsos, zapatos… tan únicos y originales que algunos de ellos incluso se pueden encontrar a la venta en el MOMA de Nueva York. En rua das Pedras Negras, 28.

 

 

8. La mejor tienda de 2016 – Claus Porto

La marca de cosmética Claus Porto, testigo de la vida cotidiana de los portugueses,  ha recibido el premio “Time Out“ a la mejor tienda del año 2016. Sus productos, elaborados con aceites esenciales y sin colorantes, a los que se añaden packagings con diseños a mano inspirados en la Belle époque y el Art Déco, se han ido renovando y actualizando a los tiempos, llegando a ampliarse hasta velas, difusores de aromas o ambientadores. La tienda destaca por sus vitrinas conservadas de las farmacias antiguas, por sus molduras originales en el techo o su preciosos suelos de baldosa hidráulica. Curiosead sus jaboncillos de invitados (muy populares hoy entre los portugueses para perfumar la ropa en el armario), los jabones extra large (favoritos en los EEUU) o la vela Cerina brisa marina que te transporta inmediatamente a la orilla del mar. La encontraréis en rua da Misericórdia 135, en el barrio de Chiado.

 

 

 

9. Todo el cristal del Mundo – Deposito da Marinha Grande (DMG)

Todos los artículos de cristal inimaginables, la práctica mayoría de ellos hechos a mano, se depositan en este indescriptible lugar para que los clientes puedan encontrar el frasco, florero, botella, vaso o adorno perfecto para sus casas. El 90% de los productos a la venta son de fabricación propia y se elaboran en la localidad de Marinha Grande, y casi todos son piezas nuevas aunque hay modelos que imitan artículos antiguos. La encontraréis muy cerquita del Palacio de São Bento, en la rua de São Bento, 234-242, aunque en el numero 418 de esta misma calle también tienen otra tienda con el mismo nombre especializada en objetos de decoración.

 

 

10. Y chocolate!! – Bettina & Niccolò Corallo

No es vox populi… pero sabíais que en Lisboa podéis conseguir uno de los mejores chocolates que existen? En un café pequeño, pero lo suficientemente amplio como para contar con su propia tienda, en pleno Principe Real (rua Escolástica Politécnica, 4). Aquí podréis degustar variedades de chocolate como la de jengibre o la de pimienta y flor de sal acompañados de un delicioso café… ¿se puede pedir más? Los propietarios realizan el chocolate cada día en la tienda con productos procedentes de plantaciones propias de la familia en África. El punto y final ideal para nuestra ruta por la ciudad.

1 y 2. Through reading – Librería Bertrand and Under The Cover

In Lisbon they have a strong predilection for literature, and that is why in this city there are very special bookstores … looking for ancient treasures among their shelves can be a perfect plan to animate a boring afternoon, especially if we visit the  Bertrand Library, opened since 1732 in the neighborhood of Chiado, on Garrett Street 73. This place, with the Guinness record to the oldest bookshop in the world still open, was a regular meeting place for the great local and international literary figures and today in day is a must for lovers of literature. Currently, this bookstore – actually a chain of bookstores – has been bought by La Casa del Libro but the authentic and original one is that of Garrett Street, right next to Café A Brasileira.

Continuing with the reading, another curious store is Under the Cover, in the neighborhood of São Sebastião and very close to the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. In her they sell international magazines of all type and of all the World, especially that type of magazines that seem almost books in which the design and the photography are taken care of especially … and in which they are true curiosities like guides of restaurants forgotten of the workers of Istanbul, the magazine Japanese Saji in which the importance of the feeding in the Japanese country or Delayed Gratification, the first magazine of the «slow journalism» stands out. 3.  “Seafood in an art gallery“ – Loja das Conservas

If you are looking for a curious and original souvenir of this crazy city for seafood and preserves, the Loja das Conservas is your store. Its owners summarize its essence as «Seafood for sale in an art gallery» and has a unique selection of cans of tuna, octopus or sardines packed in cans with old and vintage designs. The store itself is wonderful and it is worth it just to see it and enjoy its «exhibition». In Rua do Arenal, 130.

 

 

4. The center of the alternative and bohemian culture of Lisbon – LX Factory

In the neighborhood of Alcantara, near the 25 de Abril Bridge and away from the turisteo in an area that was once an industrial area, today there is a building in an old factory with brick walls and street art murals full of shops and concept stores where you can find furniture, design objects, pieces of art … unique and very original: LX Factory. The best thing is to visit it on Sundays, which is when a market is organized in which the young designers exhibit their works, and it is a usual place to have brunch. But if you want to enjoy what, according to Time Out, is the most beautiful in the city, you can not miss one of its last openings in Intendente, in the old factory of ceramics Viúva Lamego. Frequented by locals and tourists who want to take home a piece of Portugal, they are an ideal way to learn about the history and traditions of this wonderful country.

 

 

6. Sunglasses for everyone – Fora Sunglasses

Portugal is the first exporter of cork in the world, and to give a good example of it, Pelcor Store produces unimaginable objects with this material: as its iconic umbrella, technological gadgets, handbags, shoes … so unique and original that some from them you can even find them for sale at the MOMA in New York. In Rua das Pedras Negras, 28.

 

 

8. The best store of 2016 – Claus Porto

The cosmetic brand Claus Porto, witness of the daily life of the Portuguese, has received the «Time Out» award to the best store of the year 2016. Its products, made with essential oils and without dyes, to which are added packagings with hand-designs inspired by the Belle Epoque and Art Deco, have been renewed and updated to the times, reaching to expand to candles, diffusers of aromas or air fresheners. The store stands out for its preserved windows of the old pharmacies, for its original moldings on the ceiling or its prices hydraulic floor tile. Search for theis little soaps (very popular today among the Portuguese to perfume the clothes in the closet), the large soaps (favorites in the USA) or the sail Cerina marine breeze that transports you immediately to the seashore. You will find it at rua da Misericórdia 135, in the Chiado neighborhood.

 

 

9. All the crystal of the World – Deposit of Marinha Grande (DMG)

All the unimaginable crystal items, most of them made by hand, are deposited in this indescribable place so that customers can find the perfect bottle, vase, bottle, glass or ornament for their homes. 90% of the products on sale are of own manufacture and they are elaborated in the locality of Marinha Grande, and almost all are new pieces although there are models that imitate old articles. 10. And chocolate!! – Bettina & Niccolò Corallo

It is not vox populi … but you knew that in Lisbon you can get one of the best chocolates that exist? In a small cafe, but large enough to have its own store, in the Royal Prince (rua Escolástica Politécnica, 4). Here you can taste varieties of chocolate such as ginger or pepper and flower of salt accompanied by a delicious coffee … can you ask for more? The owners make the chocolate every day in the store with products from family plantations in Africa. The ideal point and final for our route through the city.
